My budget is 6K for an lcd tv , will most ikely be from GAMe as they offer the one's I can afford.
I'm a bit concered about the big brands and their 12month only warranty on their products, this is a lot of money to spend on something only garanteed for 12months, Sinotec is 5 years.
Why 12 months, that something I expect on a toaster :)
Anyway 32 lcd is the only size I can afford, have been to game every weekend for the last 4 weeks , they rotate specials on lg, sony etc every week - this week it's samsung.
I dont have dstv, using normal aerial - watch very little sabc, etv 2hrs a week - mostly use tv for DVD's and series avi's on an external drive.
Which one of these would you choose: All only HD ready

best advise, is look around. you can't go wrong with Sinotec, buddy has one as its good quality and you can't fault the 5 year compared to the 12 month of the others.

Check Makro and Hi-Fi Corruption first. Since I am in the same boat, got about R6K max and looking for a TV and Game had only old stock and the dude trying to sell to me was trying to not get me to by a Sinotec!

GAME is the cheapest, way I look at it is I'm not going to play bluray just yet - the technology is going ahead fast, so the TV you buy today is obsolute in a year or sooner so I bank on buying a new tv again in 5 years time.
Comparing all the TV's at game I know that whats on display there is the worst it is going to look as they usually never have the things set up correctly ie composite cables and not component or hdmi.
Whereas other Audio vision stores etc have the thing connected up correctly with additional; hardware I cant yet afford, so if I do buy a tv from them it wont look the same at home because I lack the adtional 5k of hardware.
We have to buy what suits our situation at the time and of course budget.
In 5years time led tv's should be around 6k or better.

I've also been looking inthe same bracket. Went to the Demo sale at Hifi Corp cape town but didn't see anything worthwhile. The 32" Philips for R8999 at Hifi Corp looks best 32" to me. The S series Sony Bravia is selling for around R800 more than the T series Bravia and the s series has more HDMI ports and seems better specced.

Entry level LCD tv

On LCD TV: I prefer the Sony KLV 40S400 they are cheaper and on sale at most outlets. I got one and must add that I like it very much.

For your budget I say you can't go wrong with sinotec or similar ... buy from Makro though. Warrantee policy is good.

If I heard correctly whilst in store they had a 32" going for R4400 this weekend.

In 5 years time you WILL be getting a new TV, trust me.

I prefer the 37" one ...

I just purchased a 46" 5 Series Samsung for R14 600. Rather go for a Samsung 5 series in 32", I am sure the quality will be much better than the choices above.
