AFAIK, the DFI.
Never owned either so I cannot vouch as such.

I would personally go for the DFI. They have been the leaders in high clocking stable motherboard for a while now. For some help visit Systemshock or prophecy for help. PM me for links, cause I don't wanna break any rules by posting them here.

DFI will give you what you really need from a board if you wanna overclock your RAM and CPU to the extreme:
2.1Vcore
4Vdimm
No other boards offer both these options that I know of.
ShockG can recomend the exact model he recomends most.
Off to supper.

Go for the DFI if only you'll be using BH5/6/CH5/UTT ram as that's the only ram where you'll need the high Vdimm of 3.3V+

But don't go UT-D, go for the newer Venus boards which are far improved over the original SLI-D\SLI-DR\UT-D as the 4V issue* has been fixed so you're unlikely to kill your motherboard or RAM using the 5V rail.

If you're going for the 2GB sets of memory based on samsung chips then, the Asus A8N32 will do perfectly. It has Vdimm all the way upto 3.2V (and its far more stable than on the DFI UT-D) which is more than enough for the DDR500~DDR600 modules and the like that only need 2.6~2.9V max.
HT speed on these should be good for 350MHz (3XLDT) which is more than enough for any multiplier. (3.15GHz with 9X and well its obvious for 10X)

Not sure how easily available the Venus boards are of the DFI SLI-Expert so I'd lean towards the Asus A8N32.
The bios is by far the leat friendliest, but it has most of the useful features.
And its 2x PCI-e 16 :)

They were going around the R2900 mark - well that's what Person sold to general_koffi yet it didn't arrive: (surprise surprise  )

@ Executioner: I think I know a dealer who can sell you a wider range of DFI boards - however it's on another forum. PM me if you want the name.

I've got this board, and even though I dont overclock much anymore...It seems to work quite well, and it was a good price:

I am not sure where you acquire your stock, but Proton keeps DFI boards.
They are a wholesaler.
They have one branch in Cape Town and another in Gauteng AFAIK.
PM me if you need more details.
Otherwise speak to a reputable firm that buys from these guys.
I am not in the PC Component Selling business btw. :)

First of all, good luck in finding a Opteron 165 Toledo Core Chip.

Secondly, Motherboard to buy for the 1.5-2ghz clock.

DFI Lanparty nForce4 Ultra-D
OR
Jetway nForce 4
OR
ASUS A8N32

Use low latency memory & a active PFC PSU

ahh, and don't listen to these "gigabyte fan boys", people that 1) Buy from Rectron 2) buy Gigabyte, knows nothing about computer hardware.

I'm a sub-distributor for Proton, if you're interested in a price PM me. Estimate here:
http://www.pricewatch.za.net/search.asp?ss=opteron 165&vnd=GamerNET Technologies

OTHERWISE!

Get the Intel Pentium-D 805, killer low budget CPU.
