Which oil?

The Story of how "lose weight" campaign goes:

(1) A person is diagnosed as being overweight and borderline diabetic.
(2) Person taken off fats, all fats, switch to margarine, because "it is good for you".
(3) Weight loss continues to be a problem despite all this nonsense about reducing fat in your diet
(4) A few years later all sorts of "other things" go wrong
(5) Now you are diagnosed being low in vitamins and Omega -3 etc, etc,
(6) Solution: Prescribe supplement for this and supplements for that, Amongst which is an Omega 3 supplement.

In the meantime, the simplest solution is to go back to a natural balanced diet with natural fats, especially Butter eliminating the Margarine, which is loaded with Omega 6 upsetting the balance with Omega 3, meaning you can do away with that expensive supplement.

A real joke is it not?

In my case, I refused all the BS, I have always enjoyed my butter, and meat and bacon and full cream milk, and cheese, and decent meat.

And what do you think my "cholesterol" levels are after 65 years?

I have just been for my annual check up, (which I do about every 5 years).
According to the doctor, I have a desirable level of cholesterol which a 35 year old man should have.

Compared to my wife who has always listened to these quacks, and done everything they say should, she is continually battling with keeping her cholesterol level ( amongst other things) within limits for her age. She is on a "fat free" diet, no butter etc -----

If you're concerned about the cost of Olive Oil then there isn't many options in terms of pricing.

Coconut oil is still the best alternative. Stay away from Canola. Its made in a lab.

The ONLY vegetable oil that is not extracted by means of a process that comes out of a lab is Olive Oil. ALL the others involve the use of some horrendous chemicals in the production process, with Canola being probably the worst.

And BTW Palm Oil demand and production is now the subject of a concerted attack because of it negative effects on the environment regarding the increased loss of forests and how much the industry now contributes to Global Warming .....

Avocado, coconut, macadamia etc? Or are you being super strict with your definition of 'vegetable oil'?

Not directly worried about cost - hell I'm already paying 2x as much as ZA pricing. Issue is more paying that much & then I can't even be sure its the real deal - as I said above some studies suggest ~70% fake rate.

Oil can be extracted from all of those you mention using a cold press process. Cold press is a slow low volume process. It is when large quantities of these products are produced that the problems arise. Most high volume processes involve some or other chemical extraction process.

That is what I find unacceptable .
