Yah def. go for a force feedback model. Everything else just feels weird and static.

This is a pretty good list although I'm not certain which are available in SA.

Also make certain you test the mechanism if you can. (get from an actual store as opposed to virtual). Test that the pedals have resistance and that the wheel automatically snaps back to a centered position when you release it.

If you can't get a momo, get a logitech nonetheless ;) I've got the Logitech Formula Force GP, it's forcefeedback and cost R450 from sybaritic. I'm pretty happy with it, it's small, sturdy and it vibrates like a mother! :D

@ Antithesis

I see that you come from East London, And as my closest city I would like to know if you can tell me (even by pm if you feel it more apropriate) which pc retailer you recomend in EL, and why. The why is important because there are a couple of dodgy stores (in my experience) in EL.

And guang yes the FFB steering wheel, but Y GTR2? ;)

Get a quality wheel i.e. Logitech Momo or Logitech DFP. I know its not within your R400 budget, but hell, you'll thank us later :D

From my experiences:

#) PE Technologies - Good for DVDs, small hardware. Wouldn't buy big stuff
#) BTD - Good for specials, decent support, good for sourcing odd stuff
#) Computronics - Good support, good products. Sometimes a bit pricey
#) Allied Computers - Bit expensive but good support/good quality

There are some that I wouldn't use but most aren't too bad.

Today I bought a Logitech Formula Force GP,cost me R375.But now it doesn't work on my pc,then I tried it on my friends PC,still not. Both PC are running XP SP2.And I am sure I installed it correctly, first driver, then plug it,but windows do not detect it.

Is it faulty??

Hey guys I have a Logitech Momo.
Can anyone help me with configuring it properly?
In NFSU2 its great except sometimes the cars slide to much, and in NFSMW when the car goes airborne and it lands the car tends to go in all directions.
