Sucks man. I'm no expert but its one of the best I've had so far.

I have/had the old bottling of the Arran core range (10/14/18) when I first got into collecting. Always found the distillery identity to be a little too much on the cereal side. Then I got Lochranza Castle and that blew me away. I've been eyeing Arran ever since.

What's worse is the system had a glitch and a few bottles were reading as R0 in the cart. I wanted to take advantage but between the moral issue and Checkers Liquor being frustrating at best, I didn't want to lose out on the other savings.

Green Spot and Aultmore 18 for free? Kicking myself I didn't try now, though.

Ardbeg Ardcore Ballot

This year Ardbeg Day falls on Saturday, 4 June and along with it comes this year's limited release Ardbeg Ardcore. Ardcore draws inspiration from the Islands punk past, with the main port, Port Ellen, allegedly going by the nickname ‘Punk Ellen’ in the 1970s.

The ballot is open. Not sure if I'm going to get a bottle, R2.5k is a bit steep for me.

At least one of them can justify the price by being 21 years old

Prices are getting a bit crazy, I am not sure it's worth that much.

I will of course pay it as I am a fanboi and I have no self control, but I've been told that I should stop wasting money. Apparently we need to save up for a new house even though this one is fine.

I dunno hey ... Ardbeg day releases tend to resell months later for even more than they cost

Three Ships limited releases tend to sell at a discount months later ... unless it is one of the famous ones that become impossible to find like 10yr PX finish or 8yr Oloroso finish, though I remember picking up quite a few 8yr bottles years after the initial release at a discount, should've bought more, now I can't find any

on the topic of Ardbeg prices ... WTF happened to the three entry level core range whiskies?!?

Wee Beastie was usually in the low R500 range, for a while it even dipped below R500
10yr was usually mid R600 range and always cheaper than An Oa
An Oa was usually just under R700, but always higher than 10yr

now:
Wee Beastie mid R600 to over R700
10yr just under R800 and sometimes even above An Oa
An Oa mostly matching the 10yr price, but lower than 10yr sometimes



at least Uigeadail prices remain unchanged

Finally opening this
Very sweet "artificial" flavours. Like someone poured caramel sauce in there.
After a few sips it starts to taste like a liqueur

Yeah that was my taste as well. I bought a bottle as a farce. Wonder how they got it to taste like caramel.
