If ET's do exist any really evidence will be subject to a cover up.
Oh come now. Millions of amateur astronomers look up at the sky every night and millions more listen to radio signals from space, yet no concrete evidence has ever been produced. Do you really believe evidence of ET could be so easily covered up? They can hardly airbrush the sky itself.

Furthermore, I'm terribly confused as to why some of the people in this thread would think intelligent life would cause panic and society meltdown. That's just plain stupid.

1: True true

2: Seriously? With all the bad movies that have depicted aliens as just wanting to kill us. These things live on in our collective consciousness. Not exactly glorifying us as a species, but we always were stupid.

This is pretty much like saying I should be terrified every time I see a spider because some movies have giant man eating spiders in them. Or that I should be scared of gorillas because I've seen a giant one climb up a building and slap down airplanes. People just aren't that stupid see, most people can tell the difference between movies and real life.

I don't know, but let's ask a scientist who studied it for 40 years:
Stanton Friedman is a bit crazy for my liking. Nothing he can say can change the fact that no solid evidence for ET exists from anywhere in the world in spite of the fact that millions of people are actively trying to find them. I'm pretty sure there's intelligent life out there, but it's probably so far away that we'll never find it.

I don't know. Have you ever watched those shows about people who are afraid of clowns and fur etc... I think a lot of people would panic. Remember you don't need a huge group to start it. Just a small core to begin and as the story spreads it usually gets worse.

FRINGE!!! Come on people - aliens I won't belive in til I see them - but a largely capitalist world run on the lines of: We have to proceed, so we will invent but if we give everyone all these cool toys, people will stop buying. If Tesla could have thought up "practically free" energy over 100+ years ago, are you seriously trying to tell me that over all that time noone has been able to go further?

The man who invents (for arguements sake) a battery tht will power a laptop for 2 years would be silenced before they could industrialize something like that...
Why? Because where would the profit be in a battery that lasts two years? Now extrapolate this to other fields and you'll see that governments (regardless of their leanings) will keep everything hush-hush just to get more money out of people.

Then again, I could just be a crackpot! :D

Yes, sounds like you could be a crackpot but not nearly as cracked as some. There are people out there (Here?) who believe in ETs.
There are no ETs, there are no files. If this dude has them why doesn't he show us the pics? All a load of sensationalist BS.
Don't these people have anything better to do witrh their time?

What do you mean there are no files? He hacked info their machines and got the files.

So it should be on wikileaks by now ;)

There will be mass public panic not to even mention the **** that will stir in the religious communities.

That's what I'm looking forward to most :D

Furthermore, I'm terribly confused as to why some of the people in this thread would think intelligent life would cause panic and society meltdown.

That has me wondering too. Most people I've discussed this idea with before, already believe that there are intelligent life *somewhere* out there. So why would having our suspicions confirmed cause us to panic?

In another incident a pilot with 20 000 hours flying experience reports a UFO flew about 30 feet above his plane insanely fast. A few days later the US government releases a statement that it was a... weather balloon

20 000 hours flying is around 833 days not stop flying, of he never flew that all in one go. So lets see, say 2 flights a week of say 4 hours long equals 2500 weeks of flying time. Which comes to around 47 years in which he has been flying. Add to that say 20 years from his birth to his first flight and you get almost 60 years. How old is this expert pilot.

Lastly, "insanely fast" is not a speed, I would suggest that flying 30 feet past a weather ballon in a plane would make the ballon seem to fly INSANELY fast passing the plane.

Of course, we don't have a name for this old timer pilot, so we can not check for bs.

So you people think really think that all those former US government officials are lying when they say that E.T life exists? I think not. There are tons of these people that have come forward.
Just because something is hacked doesn't mean it's gonna be on wikileaks

Just back on the topic of the UK hacker - he hacked more than NASA.
He managed to get a good look at the Pentagon and DOD's files.
According to the US prosecution he was also responsible for keeping the US missile defence offline for a few hours.

So it's more than NASA, but the guy did nothing but snoop for info on ET.
He never did anything malicious.
This case against him has been going on for so long, I hope he averts extradition.

Perhaps its captain Kirk of the Enterprize. Those guys could do 'warp speed' at the press of a button.:D

Yet not an ounce of real evidence. Curious.

Part of NASA's mission is to look for signs of intelligent life in outer space

To be fair I don't think that is really part of NASA's mission. More of a fringe benefit it would seem.

So this guy is smart enough to break in to both NASA and the Pentagon's networks, but not smart enough to know they were surely going to catch him. Why then did he not make available what he found?

If he made available what he had found, then I reckon the charges against him would have more "meat" to them.
He just wanted to satisfy his own curiousity concerning UFO's, etc.

Real, as in an Alien wheel spanner, or tri-corder. But no, all we get are Jimbo's retelling of and X-files episode with some blurry photos.
