@Skinner,

You dont realise, UIF is your medical too! You dont have ANY medical costs. YOu have a kid that has special needs (such is a paraplegic,or ADHD, Diabetes etc etc) , I want to see what YOUR medical costs will be. This UIF is comprehensive and there is NO limit.

I really dont know where you live (nor do I care)... in a bunker somewhere in the karoo,
but you have given away your right to criticise people in foreign countries.

If you dont like why people are leaving SA, then that is YOUR problem - Stop spreading rubbish about other countries you have only seen on CNN.

Please, Cease and Desist. You have ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHTS to point fingers at other countries that you have read about/ once visited when Mommy paid for the holiday.

Inner city apartments in Auckland are a little pricy to rent, but they are conveniant.
So, although they are located in one of the top desirable cities in the world to live in, they cost a fortune. Nice. :(

Inner city apartments in JHB are slums.
JHB is not the only city in SA.
Besides, Sandton and other areas around it are still part of JHB, and I would not call them "slum". They are cheaper. Find the same type of flats in Auckland with the same "distance" from the "inner city", and I'll bet they will still cost much more expensive.

I wonder which service is the best: private hospitals and clinics in SA, or the public NHS in UK?

I am sitting in a foreign country.

I live in those same countries people immigrate to.
I don't mind if they leave SA, but I try to advise against silly reasons and false perceptions.

I have been living in SA and foreign countries (mostly Europe) on and off (1 year here, 1 year there, 1 year back in SA, etc.) for the past 19 years.

I have been living in SA and foreign countries (mostly Europe) on and off (1 year here, 1 year there, 1 year back in SA, etc.) for the past 19 years.

I have been to the NHS, and guess what! Its FULL of South African doctors. The HEAD paediatrics surgeon at a major UK teaching hospital is South African. (and he Emigrated at the age of 50 with his family)

After 19 years you should know better... YOUR Job is to promote South Africa, not run down other peoples decisions to more forward in their lives.
I can tell you from first hand experience, the first 2 years after emigrating is utter hell!, but right now, as I sit - I do not regret it for ONE MINUTE. My Tax is less, and my quality of life is absolutely amazing, my family is happy and I dont encounter beggars on every street corner that look like they are going to smash my car window.

I did not leave South Africa 'cos I like Europe - You have your family held at gunpoint and explain to your 7yr old Daughter what that nasty man done to her. Please, then you can explain to me that 40% TAX and No safety is a good thing. Besides, you have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA how to calculate tax from your earlier posts.

Your false perceptions are the ones that are going to bite, You say that houses on your street dont have fences and there is no crime there.... and on the other hand darren, you DONT EVEN LIVE IN SOUTH AFRICA.You go take the train to work in the morning in Germany and then tell me you will do the same on the MetroRail on JHB.. get REAL.

Puhleeze, you are as much an authority on Foreign Tax systems as the Pope is on the practical uses for a condom.

You should seek therapy, its really dangerous for someone as dynamic as yourself to harbour so much resentment and hatred for other cultures and ways of living.

You are no different than a whining ExPat. Now do your JOB and point out positives about South Africa... and your Tax example is NOT a positive... its LESS of a negative.

Lemme get you started, just so you get the idea :
Good ones are : Weather, Wildlife

Bad Examples are : Cheaper petrol, Lower Tax

given that this forum is one of the largest SA forums, I would be quite surprised if there werent a few posters on this forum, who were being paid to promote various Government PR (ie: 'propaganda') agendas.

Never thought of that... but its quite possible that Homecoming Revolution has agents.. look at Mr Ryk Neetling... Robbed twice, but 'cos he is the Ambassador of this organisation sponsored by FNB, I reckon his support is PAID FOR by FNB

I'm also virtually certain of it, in fact it's only logical -- It is already clear that the propagandists do employ below-the-line agencies to do "fake grassroots" campaigning. One of the most obvious strategies is fake forum postings. And this may be the biggest SAn forum. Ergo, they'd be here. Then the strategies and logical fallacies used by some the pro-SA posters here are practically 'out of the handbook', and the patterns of posting are also systematic. I've written about this before here.

No, an insult.

Conclusion based on your behavior, if you don't like it, change your behavior.

So, because you never heard of them, they must be horrible. Right?
Are you the Minister of Education and thus able to comment on the quality of public schools in any particular province?
I myself lived in those areas and went to some of those schools, and I still stay in touch with them, and I promise you the standards did not drop by far.

No, the conclusion I draw is that I'm hardly zoned for them.

Never heard of that school you mention.

Never heard of Durban? How strange.

So, then a tracker's costs make up for itself, as you have clearly illustrated. Why the earlier complaints and moans then about a tracker's costs?
Oh I'm sorry, that cost analysis doesn't apply to your jalopy.
I'm sorry, if a R0.5m 5-series Beemer is more your style, then so be it.

Both are reliable vehicles. Unfortunately the one costs a gazillion Rands more than the other, because of mainly brand and snob value.

New BMWs are snob vehicles for many South Africans and a typical vehicle that would stand in their driveways whenever they complain about unaffordable security costs, school fees, raising food prices, etc. :D

You're the one with the BMW fetish, I've never owned, nor do I intend to own one.

I choose vehicles with lower theft profiles than Toyota, and higher quality levels.

Sandton is not the CBD. And it's hardly a pleasant place to drive through let alone live in.

I'm inclined to agree with you. The repetition of discredited notions is typical of propagandists.

It had its appeal when I was younger but now that I'm a family guy it's almost daunting.

That's not to say I wouldn't rule it out should the need arise.

Where would you go bwana, as I would consider it if I needed to, but my wife is a bit against it.

Probably back to the states. Of course the UK (and by extension most of the rest of Europe) is also feasible but I dont think I could do that to the missus and the kids.

I think Emigrating is a good excuse for people that can no longer afford their homes.

LOL! Have you seen the cost of property oversees?? If you can't afford your house here, you will certainly be homeless in any first world country.
Add to that the huge cost of emmigration, particularly caused by the low value of the ZAR.

Ps I don't have a problem with people that leave, but then they lose all right to comment.

Erm, ja boet. I guess all the black activists who fled the country in the apartheid-era also didn't have the right to say anything about South Africa back then, hey? Ja, fully, bru. Numb-nut.

The thought had occured to me that Skinner is not even overseas but could be some form of propagandist puppet paid by the ANC to spread propaganda on this forum.
