I am not in NZ so I cannot comment about that country.
But you did.
Not being in a country does not disqualify you from making observations or even judgements about that country. However one would expect a reasonable degree of experience to back up any observation or judgment. This does not include a 2 week "look-see". Hearsay should be justified by references.
Having lived here for the past two years my observations are that NZ is not a perfect society. But it ain't far off. From an econonmic perspect NZ tends to rely too much on it's agricultural expertese. It is the most productive food producing nation (per capita) in the world. This is to the exclusion of other expertese. When I lived in SA I was fortunate to have been involved in what is arguably SA sciences flagship (this was before SALT). And what is going on here leaves me breathless. However it is flawed. There is a world leading company here (in Auckland) and they're going to come short. Soon.
Crime. Stupid stuff. Graffitti is a problem in some regions. It is the thin end of the wedge. The police here are hamstrung by PC'ness. It's not as bad as the UK but if left unchecked it could get that bad. Drugs. Yup. Predominently in the poorer areas. Gangs, not really a problem. There's some evidence of Chinese gangs operating here but they stick to the Chinese community. See an earlier post of mine.
Education: Fantastic. NZ and Aus are joint 4th best in the world for maths & science education. 'Nuff said. Free too.
Healthcare. People bitch here but overall it's pretty good. State healthcare here is as good as private in SA. There are some cases where the state pharmaceutical body is (IMO) too tardy in accepting certain drugs. Free too.
Respect for the law is great (one factor that drove me out of SA). No quibbles. You transgress you pay the fine or do the time. Period. No bleating about it was x's fault. You will get caught too.
Roads. Brilliant. I have never seen a pothole. Litter? What's that? Homeless people? Beggers? Nope.
Tax, slightly less than SA but see what you get for your buck?
