Seems health care in NZ is not always free:

Thank you Gerhard.
You know I'm getting a bit gatvol of these laaities that think they can sprout some kuk and we must all bow down in awe of their superior knowledge. The same people that say "If you leave you have no rights to criticise". What rubbish. The same people that tell me I should have adjusted my attitude after being unemployed for 2 years. What fascile little pimples. Have a look at "unemployment" on the stress gauge children. It rates up there with "death (self)".
Grow up children. It's a big world out there. Stop prostrating yourself at the alter of the govt (Nat or ANC) and start asking questions. Start thinking for yourself as opposed to sprouting the govt/HCR propoganda. Turiko and Skinner, you're just like the guys with whom I was at school , I avoided military service (crucial skills category) and they hated me at the time. But you know what? When they'd finished they all said I was right.
How come you laaities can sprout *** and I must defend (or in this case Gerhard)? Hmm?
I don't really get what point you are trying to make, try to summarise it concise in 1 sentence please!
FACT: SA has better weather than most other 1st world countries.
FACT: Most 1st world countries tax you sh**less.
(Snip more unsubstantiated so-called facts)
Are these enough FACTS?
LOL. Well, whatever dude. I am not even going to go through each item in your list, these are not facts at all, merely your own opinion of how things are. I am now done with this thread, it serves no purpose. Those who wish to go, will go, and those who wish to stay, will stay. In the end we all do what is right for us. However, I know I will be better off where I am going. For you, it is better to stay. So be it! So, here is a firm handshake to you, and a hearty goodbye! I am off to book my flight tickets out of here!
What have you done with Skinner??!!!Considering all of the above, SA might not be such a bad place to stay in. It's not like there is some criminal waiting behind every rock and bush to jump out and rip your guts out.

This thread proves as proof that there are a lot of MyBB members on heavy bi-polar meds.
FACT: Your chances of being able to afford & own a house in a 1st world country, is even worse than in SA. House prices in 1st world countries are just total madness.
FACT: Likely you will have to live in some small flat for the first months (or years) of your life in your new foreign country.
FACT: Making friends in many 1st world countries is much more difficult than you think.
FACT: New Zealand dropped interest rates yesterday! NZ house prices are not much more expensive than houses in CT, even when converting the Rand. The further out of town you go, the cheaper the houses get. I live 50km out of town and catch the train to work everyday, where I live you could buy a house (that may need some work) on an acre of land, for under $320k.
FACT: I live in a large 3 bedroom house, on a nice size property! I don't own it, but still own my house in Cape Town.
FACT: We live amongst South Africans in our neighborhood here in NZ, making friends is easy. We braai nearly twice a month, kids run down the road go playing at the park, riding bicycles together, making plenty of kiwi friends. I have many kiwi friends too, they not stuck up like us South African's. They never judge you and accept you for who you are. Even if there were no Saffas here, would would have still made plenty of friends!
FACT: Half of out friends/family in SA have emigrated too, some are in the process, so even if we went back to SA we will still be missing them.
That's a cool R1.8m at a residential mortgage interest rate of say 10.75%. Doesn't sound much better than SA, does it?FACT: New Zealand dropped interest rates yesterday! And MOST OF us could give a rats arse, so if you have nothing constructive to add, rather dont say anything.Good for You Mcnab. *Claps Politely*.
Just leave the rest of us to get on with living in SA will you.
Most of us couldn't give a rat's arse about NZ. Heck , I've Kiwi Friends who've fled NZ out of sheer boredom

Oh, and please do give us some house prices for inside the cities. Or I can google some if you like.
I'd just like to quantify your "NZ house prices are not much more expensive than houses in CT", you know.
Two last questions, MacNabs.
1) What did it cost you to emmigrate to NZ? The whole shebang?
2) What do you regard as the most fun thing(s) you do in NZ?
Two tough questions maybe, but I'd love the answers.
FACT: SA has better weather than most other 1st world countries.
FACT: Most 1st world countries tax you sh**less.
FACT: Living costs and consumer costs are still cheaper in SA than most other 1st world countries.
FACT: You WILL get lonely at some point or other, after emmigrating.
FACT: Statistically your chances of being a victim of crime in SA, can be lowered depending on where you live and how you protect yourself.
FACT: You WILL have to work yourself to the bone in other countries.
FACT: Emmigration is very difficult and very expensive, even more so with a family.
FACT: Health Care is NOT for free in most 1st world countries. You either pay for it in your taxes (which are hell high, as mentioned) or monthly payments.
FACT: No-one cares about your fading culture in your new overseas country.
FACT: South Africans are generally regarded as know-littles and of relative low importance, in 1st world countries.
FACT: You will ABANDON your families in SA. And friends.
FACT: Visiting SA for holidays in future will become even more expensive, as flight prices skyrocket.
FACT: For some jobs, you can earn nearly the same money in SA as in a 1st world country.
FACT: You cannot vote in foreign countries until you become a citizen - which is difficult and takes years and years.
FACT: Culture shock is a reality in many foreign countries.
FACT: Beaurocracy is a nightmare in many 1st world countries. In SA, things are just so much simpler.
FACT: Petrol cost on average double, in 1st world countries, than what it costs in SA.
So, final FACT: Considering all of the above, SA might not be such a bad place to stay in. It's not like there is some criminal waiting behind every rock and bush to jump out and rip your guts out.
Are these enough FACTS?
Most of the people in this forum do actually give a rats arse, all the PM’s I get from people interested in moving to NZ proves it. Also the amount of posts/ threads that keep popping up here these days about emigration/people leaving the country etc… also proves it.
