I know exactly what that "status" means.. and anyone who flashes it around like it matters is a right royal attention seeking twat in my opinion.

And the vast majority of people have no idea what that status means so they would at best just assume someone had got a special colour card because they wanted one.

I will stick happily to my gold cards, both Capitec & FNB. At least when my card gets rejected at the tills the cashier kindly says a prayer before trying again.

FNB still treats me as a Private Client even though I upgraded to Gold two years ago, so I've got no desire to flash my income (not that you need those claimed amounts to qualify for private banking anymore).

Funny thing is since I’ve used Apple Pay, I’ve rarely seen my physical card.. so mine is turquoise in my Apple Wallet. Every month I check what transactions use my physical card and modify them to use a virtual where possible.

Soon it’s gonna be a dead card. Was actually thinking the other day I want to get a prepaid card and load like R250 on it and just kinda keep in for when I can’t transact with a virtual.
