I have started using Opera on my laptop and micro server on my TV for the VPN function. Have to say, it works great (speed is great and unlimited vpn data with opera browser).

Then saw that Opera has a VPN app for cellphones also and started using it on my phone also. Tested to make sure that my notifications works as it should and that Whatsapp and Wechat calls work, and it seems that all works 100% with the VPN.

Just curious as to how many of you uses a VPN on your cellphone and what VPN service. If you do, any specific reason or is it just for added security?

Yes, when I need to get something from my home network.
VPN is built in though, Settings > Tethering & Networks > VPN

Mine is pretty stable. Is this now for the app on your phone? Go into settings and make sure that the force to keep running and turn vpn on after restart is selected?

I only use it to get to things I can't get to otherwise or if on open wifi of some kind.

Not a paranoid daily user.

Opera VPN is only when using their browser app though, not for others apps. I use it on PC to watch Sky News.

Nope. I believe all info from the phone goes via the VPN once it is active on your phone. Opera browser on PC is browser only.

You guys can send all your traffic to the Chinese, I'll use my own thanks :D

huh? Opera Software is based in Norway, and they dont have a server in China for their VPN. Only Canada, USA, Netherlands, Singapore and Germany.
