If you live with your SO - spouse/partner/whatever - which one of you runs the finances in the house? Or is it striclty seperated and each does his/her own?

In our house, I am in charge of finance, because Mr Blu is away very often and he is also terrible when it comes to managing money. I need to protect him against himself! Trying to reduce all his credit card debt, consolidate things and generally get us in line as far as saving, future planning, etc.

I pay for everything household wise - girlfriend has a credit card on my account. Including rent, electricity, groceries, etc, we have quite a high monthly bill.

She pays for her clothes, toiletries, ,etc. EDIT: Forgot, she usually pays the maid.

If either of us has money left we pay for each other when we go out.

We just pool our money, neither of us really run the money as we spend however we choose which is bad though.

Although since January 2009 i have stopped us spending alot of money on enterment like dinner's, lunch breakfast etc which she is not liking but it amazes me how much 2 people can spend on eating out .
