OK, lets do this

1) Tower: Wonderboom
2) Signal: 96-100%
3) Major Pros:
a) Fast always on
b) Muuuuuuch better than ISDN
c) No antenna - good thruput
d) Latency not worrying me (used to dialup)
4) Major Gripes:
a) Non really - sorry i did not get the UTD
b) They have not biiled me yet since signing up (2 months)
c)
d)

Recommendations to fix gripes:
Cheaper bandwidth.

Considering cancelling ADSL order and geting 3GB (currently iGo with extra 1gig)

It is good that we have the presence of an iBurst employee. Hopefully we can get some issues resolved without having to tear our hair out. iBurst, you do realise that you will be getting plenty of PM's (i've already sent my first one).

1) Tower: Olivedale
2) Signal: 94 tp 100%
3) Major Pros:
a) Not Telkom
b) Portable
c) Can be fast
d) Not Telkom
4) Major Gripes:
a) Continuous disconnections
b) Very erratic speeds
c) Helpdesk not helpful
d) Have yet to recieve an monthly invoice

Recommendations to fix gripes: Start answering complaints and queries from clients, Sort out disconnections, Try and get more stable speeds, Send invoices for monthly charge.

The 2GB product is great, but would it not be better to sort out the problems with the existing product before adding more?

Had Iburst since about may and haven't been happy as disconnections occur daily for random periods at critical times.

1) Tower: Kialami
2) Signal: 84-87 whilst connected 88 and tower midrand whilst disconnected
3) Major Pros:
a) Not Telkom
b) Portable
c) Can be fast
d) economical if it works
4) Major Gripes:
a) Continuous disconnections
b) Very erratic speeds
c) Helpdesk not helpful
d) Have yet to recieve an monthly invoice

I use Opera at the moment, fastest and I like setting it up exactly how I want it, but anyway here's my stats:

1) Tower: Plumbstead (Cape Town)
2) Signal: 80-90%
3) Major Pros:
a) Fast (80-120kb)
b) Always on, no disconnecs at all for the six days I've been on Iburst.
c) P2P actually works quite well appears not to be shaped, around 50k achievable
d) Helpdesk was actually helpfull, but I realize this isnt a generally shared perspective.
4) Major Gripes:
a) Connecting to sites is quite bad, latency also pretty bad (300-400+ int. 70-150 local)
b) Need an antenna, very high start up costs unless you want to sign contract.
c) Nothing else wrong really

Recommendations to fix gripes: Do Something about the latency! I dont actually know what they can do technically, but the bandwidth situation seems OK, you get your sppeds so its just latency thats the problem.

Don't they shape p2p in CT? What you using ... pls pm don't post it otherwise they will stop the fun.

What latency international or local? and eg?

International could be due to use of satelite

Kingmonty ... why bother? ...
putting it all together gives the oft present Iburst network folks a good understanding of (in Martin Lawrence's words) "what the matter is"

King ... I regularly contribute to technical disucssions and provide input where I feel it will actually have an impact at WBS.

A report like the one you are trying to establish will however have little evidential value...it's all way too subjective.

That is the reasoning behind my negative perception of the "happiness" factor.

@Elhaatvensters, yeah Plumstead tower rocks, as in the last 6 months it only went down for about 30min.

Not sure where you are located, but I am about 1km from the tower and always get 100% connection nomatter were I put the UTD and I do not have an external antenna.

Speeds +_95% of the time are very fast day or night, but I have to agree about the latency when connecting to almost any site, and most the time I have to refresh the browser to get to a site.

The above problem started when wbs setup that proxy, as before then it was fine.

Hey MrH, I'm actually 6.5km away, stay in Bergvliet therfore need antenna.
But a friend of mine lives in the block of flats on top of which the base station is situated! Gonna be taking my UTD there sometime!

I however dont just have an initial problem connecting to sites, there is often a break in loading a site where it just says "sending request" in my browsers progress bar, in any browser by the way. Is this just me?

Continue to get reliable, high speed, always on internet. Which is what I pay for.

I would also like to see the cost of bandwidth coming down!

So come on WBS, sharpen those pencils, and drop those charges,

No Ekhaatvensters as I have the same problem as you with any browser, but as I already said it only started after wbs setup that proxy.

I have spoken about it before on this forum, but since nobody responded I assumed that it was a local problem.

I'm using Kyalami tower in JHB and go through periods of this problem ... so it may not be so local. It has been OK for a while now ... still have pause but pages do come down ... previously at times had to make a 2nd or 3rd request to get page to complete load.

Roman4604, well the 2nd and 3rd attempt you get at times I have had since that month wbs setup the proxy and as far as I remember it was also the same time they were messing around with blocking the email.

1- No support
2- Blatant theft of bandwidth
3- High cost of bandwidth
4- 1mb speed ? My ass.

Basically its a crap service but in this lovely democracy what else can we do ?

Kyalami has deteriorated about 60 percent in the last couple of weeks. It used to be the best station but now i cannot believe how sh!tty the speeds are. Pings used to be 60-70 now they are more like 150-200.
