I absolutely loved Titan Quest - One of my favourite RPGs ever.

Grim Dawn I just wasn't very moved by though.

For my fix in the genre these days, I play Path of Exile. It is, without a doubt, the best action RPG ever made. And it's free, try it...

Can recommend PoE too. Be warned, after act 4 it gets silly. You're goimgnto need to grind those gems and get some sick combos going. Remember, AoE is your friend...

I never got past the first act in Titan Quest.
Was meh compared to D2.
Now if Blizzard would just HD remaster that...I'd still not have time :(

As is the case with most action RPGs.

You can't really compare poe grind to "most other" arpg's. I would compare the grind to a Korean mmo.
I'm not bashing the game, it's fun until you hit that wall.

I've played pretty much every western ARPG ever released, and aside from D3, which hands everything to you on a platter due to it all being account bound, PoE is not unusually grindy. What it is though, is very complex, which adds layers to the process, to be sure.

The grind is real in that game.

The company who made it is called Grinding Gear Games. I've spent more time playing POE than any other game. Probably in the 4k hour region now.

Also spent a load of time playing Titan Quest in the past. Awesome game. The only gripe is that the starting levels feel the same for all characters. i.e. leveling up with a spear and shield. It's only after playing for 20 hours or so till lvl30+ that a build starts to take shape.

I installed the anniversary edition yesterday and started up a few characters. Not sure how I missed this update. They allow you to adjust the speed of the game in the settings which makes it a lot more fun.

They made a huge amount of changes especially to damage over time mechanics. It's easier to scale damage now as previously there was no way to scale burning, frostburn and electrical burn damage except through a couple items. The changes to the passive tree and allowing elemental damage% to scale damage over time makes them a lot more viable.

So settled for an electrical burn focused build that will use Dream and Storm masteries. With the Dreams' Wrath electrical burn aura I can just run through the game whilst everything dies. Scales with Storm Nimbus and Wisp elemental boost from the Storm mastery. Will throw in some some spells afterwards from the Dream mastery with the electrical burn parts maxed out.

The game is nowhere near as customizable as Path of Exile but it's still fund for certain builds and a couple of playthroughs.

I loved Titan Quest. Way back then, seeing the wheat fields move as you walk through them was pretty fantastic.

I know Rocket_Boy and his wife played this game stukkend as well. Can you still play it multiplayer or am I thinking of something else?

I will go have a look at this exile stuff

My favourite RPG back in the day was Dungeon Siege 2. I just LOVE exploring and collecting gear and hidden items. I heard #3 was crap so even though it's in my steam library I've never touched it. For the same reason I also love Fable and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II. Incidentally both those games are 13yrs old now. (As in World of Warcraft!)
