On the photos link they test the phrase “telkom sucks” in google (exact phrase) and got over 2000 results. Did it also, but with Vodacom, MTN, Virgin Mobile and Cell C ….

Telkom - 2160
MTN – 369
Vodacom – 237
Virgin mobile – 176
Cell C – 41 (can’t be!)

Why is MTN so much higher than Vodacom? Probably because Vodacom does give better service?!

See the following article from the Sunday Times (11 March 2007) on top companies for customer service - http://www.sundaytimes.co.za/Business/Money/Article.aspx?id=408122

It's a pity that South African companies don't try to be number 1 for customer service (or should I say customer SATISFACTION) in their sector.

I wonder how Virgin Mobile performed in this survey especially when press releases like these two talk about GREAT customer service - http://www.virginmobile.co.za/virgin-portal-customer/Press2.do and http://www.virginmobile.co.za/virgin-portal-customer/Press6.do

What's 237?

237 results for the search phrase "vodacom sucks". Which is significantly lower than "mtn sucks".

What makes this more remarkable is that Vodacom has more subscribers and therefore are even more likely to have some very upset customers but that’s not the case. The obvious reason for this is that Vodacom’s service is better. (This test seems to support the article)

What should be noted though is that the name "Vodacom" is unique to S.A .. at least I think it is.. that is to say: are there any other operators world wide with the name of "Vodacom"?

MTN operates under the same name in other countries too..

Try the search but tell google to only search "pages from South Africa" .. the results are then a bit different..

Telkom - 2160
MTN - 140
Vodacom - 109
Virgin Mobile - 8
Cell C - 4

Interesting to note that Telkoms count remains the same..
