I don't get why she needs a salary to stay at home.

Could cause severe tax schit.

You pay tax on your salary already, and by rights she needs to pay tax on her RXXX for half day AND as she wants you to declare her an employee and pay her R12k, then you need to register her for UIF and she needs to declare/pay tax on the R12k.
Rather let her work her half day if that's what she wants. Then you make sure bills are paid. Give her money when she needs and life goes on.

Or pay her the R12k without declaring and then somehow SARS finds out and schit ensues.
