And did Ken Kataguri from Sony not say we would work overtime or longer hours in order to afford the PS3 once we realize it's brilliance that it was more than a gaming console but also a digital media hub for the home that can also run any OS out there ???.

Keep the faith ;).

I think I will be buying the console and games. Just wait a year or so for the price to come down. However will also save up for the Wii, imagine playing Goldeneye on high res.!!

Screw Sony.

It's not about gaming, it's about BluRay market penetration to try get an edge on HD-DVD in Japan.

They no longer give a crap about their customers (Think RootKit + DRM), They assumme people will buy their products anyway based on previous success. Which they most likely will but don't always... remember the Sega Genesis (sure!) remember the Sega Saturn (Huh?) failed.

If you pay R1000 for a game, you might want to rethink your budget.

Iwata has already come out and said first party Wii titles will be no more than $50 max. But their line has always been better value.

@$100 ~ R1000, you'll be able to buy 1 PS2 console for every PS3 game you want ;)

I don't read comics anymore, these days I just look for Sony press releases . . .

Na, gonna give Sony a miss this time around. There should be a balance between cutting edge and value. It looks like something was over looked. SA is not the only country where people have to carefully budget their entertainment costs. I think most people will see the Wii as a more attractive options, because of its prices and just because it is a 'gamming machine'.

nah, there was rumour that when you buy a PS3 game you are only paying for the licence and not the physical product, thus you dont really "own" the game.

mmm... i wonder how many rumours the Sony fanboys feasted upon before the X360 was launched... now all of a sudden they are quiet?

but to add more wood to the fire :

http://www.gamesradar.com/gb/ps3/game/news/article.jsp?articleId=20060524153157765035&sectionId=1006

High street games shops have been told by Sony that there will be no PS3 pre-owned sections in their stores as it will be illegal for customers to sell any next-gen PlayStation games that they've bought, retail sources have revealed to GamesRadar.

It seems that Sony is planning to adopt a licensing system that will mean gamers won't own the PS3 titles that they've paid money for. Instead, they will only be purchasing the licence to play the game and that the software itself will still be Sony property - meaning that the disc won't be the customer's to sell.

We assume that the thinking behind this move will ultimately be to stop PS3 games being resold several times - which currently snatches potential sales away from Sony - and to counter the impression in consumers' minds that games are only really worth their pre-owned price and are not worth buying new.

When we contacted Sony, it issued us with the following statement: "We have made all of the official announcements at E3 and cannot make any further comments at this time. We will be announcing more news running up to PlayStation 3's launch."

That's fine. you never owned any game in the first place. You paid for a license to use it's content, that's what sony or any electronic publishing company will tell you.

What I want is... if you sell me a license to view/use electronic content (dvd, game, music cd) that means I'm paying for the intangable product on the media so not the physical media itself.

So!

If the media gets scratched or ruined or lost! I've already paid for it's use. so I'll have another free cd / dvd please.

No really, give me a free cd/dvd now! you barstards! oh, prove I bought it? screw you! you should have a comprehensive system in place to see who owns the right's to use your digital media, it's not the customers problem.

These publishing companies make millions every year reselling you good's you already own... they're playing both side for their benefit.

Sure the 360's got issue, not unlike the Ps2 when it launched . . .

At least MS is not in financial dwang:

:D

Who's going to write $100 games for a $600 crate of bits, when there's no Sony left . . .

Note to the unwary, that was bait, it's not a statement of golden truth predicting the outcome of the Console war . . .
:D lol true. Xbox could fail completely and Ms would still have lots of cash...F#ckers have been raping us for years.;)
