Why a total Eskom blackout in South Africa should scare the hell out of you

So what's everyone's contingency plans for this outcome?

Also think it's a little over the top, since plenty of other African states run on electricity cuts. When I say "run", I mean limp, but they are not in complete civil war as far as I understand?

Anyway, do you think you could operate under those conditions, or would you take a plane out whilst you could / across the border?
 
And Eskom is relying on this to scare tactic(s) to get their increase.

FU Eskom.

Ps. I know it's true, SA will be poorest country on planet earth. And Donald Trump would be correct then..
 
Load shedding happens when Eskom’s payments to corrupt suppliers cannot meet demand, and the company shuts down power in a controlled manner to justify increasing electricity prices to cover their corruption obligations.

Bicycle to get to shops. Wooden club to provide access to shops, act as payment method and fend off other looters. Large backpack to hold shopping.

The problem is Eskom's monopoly on electricity supply. That should scare the hell out of you.
 
They want that increase, probably paid this site to rehash that news article to drive the point home
 
If I'm not mistaken Koeberg has blackstart generators nearby too. Plus presumably Ingula can too. That's two big inputs sorted.

Not entirely sure things would hold together for 2 weeks though. Even with lights on things are pretty wild, so I'd imagine mobs & tsosis would have a field day

Oh, he has told them frequently, but they don't want to listen, and he has no power* over them.

*all my puns are always fully intended
 
Will try find the news article later, but I recall either a minister or someone at Eskom admitting that load shedding wasn't actually necessary, and that it was actually used as a way to drive up prices of tenders for coal, etc.
