I believe 920 GigabaWatts are missing cause of Koobheg maintenance in that planned maintenance.

Normally Koobheg is our old reliable during these times. ;(

because some things just can't be fixed, like a rabid dog, it doesn't matter how much you invested in it or how much you would like to save it ... the only realistic option is to take it out back and put a bullet in its head, then start over with a brand new puppy

EDIT: and no that's not a defence of De Ruyter, his failure was to try at all, he should have explained the rabid dog metaphor to the trough pigs

Why André de Ruyter didn't fix load-shedding by September 2021
It is foolish for anyone to think they can fix load shedding in less than 2 years.

It is a question that only the ignorant will ask.

I still support De Ruyter given the decade (and more) of mismanagement, corruption and incompetence.

He is far more open than previous Eskom CEOs - for example, today he gave a press conference with an update - you wouldn't see Molefe or other ANC cadres doing that.

He is doing a good job under the circumstances.

Because the stinking rot that was there prior to his appointment won't allow it.
Because he didnt bother to sign a single independent power producer or green power producer like he promised us. Now he brought back loadshedding so he can force through his 20% increase plus 5% backpay.

At the end all this extra money gives them bigger bonusses for achieving targets.

I dont think he is any better than the previous Eskom bosses, yet soo many are blindly following him.

You forget that he is employed by the ANC and put in his position by the ANC. Time to get a wakeup.

He is not much better.

Since him we have had worse loadshedding than ever before, the maintenance has been worse. He is thinking he can get 25% increases from us suddenly. And he extended Koeberg which should have been decomissioned. Let alone refusing to convert the power stations to green energy by installing filters.

Is he honestly better? I think not.

Just call it an illusion. Make you go wow he is good, but in reality the bank is being emptied.

Yes, because R100bn of debt was paid off so now there's no money for spares and fixing things. The damage being done to the economy is way worse than the worth of that debt. The government should be taking on and servicing that debt as it's due to them it exists.
