Question which I was wondering about recently..

Earlier it was because of a wider range of opportunities; in actual fact only moved because of this from all my jobs.
Recently though I'd leave because I was seen as a object and not a person and Political BS in the office.

Why did you leave?

It was a 6 month fixed contract to help an international organisation establish a South African office and set up some basic systems for them, so when it was done I moved on :)

The worst possible conditions to work in. Back-stabbing, gossiping, low pay with little to no benefits, lack of leadership, uncertainty about the companies' future, competitors stealing staff left right and centre, stupid hours with no flexibility while being located in the busiest part of joburg, no room for growth, although ironically I was offered my managers job when I resigned, repetitive, holds onto old ways even though I provided and proved newer things to be better.. The list, surprisingly, goes on..

Because of better pay! In my previous job I was being paid R50.00 per week, and then got my current job which was R650.00 per month. That was almost 30 years ago! I will be with my current employer for 30 years on the 6th of October.

Because I was assigned tasks which had buggerall to do with my job spec
^ This. Happens quit often if you work at a place for a long time and have hard-worker reputation. You become the ol'-trusty donkey.

Because of the owner. He abused and used staff. Made empty promises time and time again. A very bombastic person with the habit of screaming and swearing at people. He did this to me once and I had to remove myself quickly from that situation. It felt like I was going to lose it with him and made me afraid that next time I might throw him out of his own office window.

I never left, just "retired". Still on the payroll. I work for the ANC government.
