Why do none of the native southern african languages have their own alphabet?

Not only native Southern African languages but also a lot of European languages too.

Not surprising considering that much of Europe were late entrant to civilization.

Sanskrit has been around since the Bronze Age when much of Europe was still throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Off topic but Afrikaans uses both the Latin and Arabic alphabet. Not sure how common the latter is lately I'm a bit ignorant on that.
