Why do we for example not have MINI Cooper diesel or Countryman diesel options here?

I was just wondering, I have noticed that you cant buy the Mini Cooper or Countryman D in South Africa, but they are available in Europe. Why is this? It is not like diesel cars is not popular in SA as you see many BMW and Merc and other brand diesel cars on our roads. Has it got something to do with the quality of our diesel that the MINI diesel engines wont run properly on it?

Think if diesel quality was a problem, that most of the BMW/Mercs would also have a problem. Probably more a case of already too many Mini variants on the market.

That is a pity. The MINI diesels have amazing fuel economy from what I can see.

Ja, on the MINI site they only have the petrol Coopers and Countrymans

There are lots of cars we have never seen in SA. I don't know who decides whether or not we would be interested in it. But yeah. We are missing out on some awesome and some not so awesome cars.
