Mr Peters,
I refer to ADSL installation order XXXXXXX-XX and your email below confirming the installation date of 19th May 2006.
Due to your email confirming the installation date of 19th May 2006, I cancelled all my meetings for today, and took a day’s leave to ensure that I would be at the premises to meet the Telkom technician when he came through to eventually finalize the long overdue installation of this ADSL line (when I applied for ADSL on 06th November 2005, I was told it would take 6 weeks to install)
Much to my horror (and, understandably, disgust), when the Telkom technician arrived to install the ADSL line, he told me that there was no link from the ADSL box outside the complex to the exchange. The technician phoned someone at Telkom who told him that my installation had been ‘booked onto a project’ to connect to the exchange, and was therefore NOT actually ready to be installed. This leads me to ask a few questions, namely –
1) How can I be given a CONFIRMED installation date for the ADSL line when the link to the exchange is not even in place ?
2) Assuming that I was ‘booked onto this project’ AFTER the installation date was set (which seems to be the case, as confirmed by Joe at Customer care – ARSxxxxxx), how come no-one is able to phone me on my cell phone or home number or send me an email, to let me know that there has been a delay and that the installation will NOT occur on 19th May 2006 ?
3) What is the completion date for this ‘project’ that my application has been booked onto?
4) After this ‘project’ is complete, how much longer will I still have to wait before my ADSL line is installed ?
5) Who will be apologizing and explaining to me and my manager the reason for me unnecessarily taking a day’s leave and thereby wasting a day’s work ?
6) And finally, assuming that I do eventually get this ADSL line installed, if (heavens forbid) there should be a fault with this line at a late stage, is this the same level of service I can come to expect in getting the line repaired?
Your immediate response would be appreciated.
Regards,
Roger

Mr Peters
I refer to the installaion of an ADSL at my premises, order number XXXXXXX-XX. The last time I phoned Telkom for an update on this order, I was told that it had been booked for the technicians to install at my premises on Friday 19th May 2006. However, no-one from Telkom actually phoned me to arrange this date.
As I work in Pretoria, I will have to arrange to take the day off to meet Telkom at my premises for the ADSL install. I would not want to take the day off without confirmation from Telkom that they will indeed be there on the date specified.
Therefore, please could you or someone from the installation department please confirm to this email address, or by phoning me on XXX XXXXXXX, and confirm that they will indeed be at my premises on 19th May 2006 to complete the ADSL install.
Many thanks and best regards,
Roger
