I've taken 8/10 tablets and I've gotten a reaction to it, swollen tongue and sores in my throat and mouth.

My illness is gone, it's just the sores now.

If you dont finish your course of antibiotics you risk creating a hardened strain against those antibiotics. Ie. superbugs.

If you do not finish the course, you run the risk of the bugs building an immunity to the antibiotics. This means the same antibiotics may not work next time and fewer options available to combat the illness next time.

Complete the course. It's worth it for the long run.

You can build a resistance to that type of anti-biotic if you don't completely kill off the infection (even tho you may feel better, doesn't mean it's 100% gone) so it's always good to finish the course.

In your case, however, don't listen to me or anyone else on this forum. Speak to your doctor! If you're having an allergic reaction to that type of anti-biotic, then maybe it isn't a good idea to keep taking them. A swollen tongue and sores in your throat doesn't sound good. What if that worsens and you can't breathe? Might be doing yourself more harm then good and it sounds risky.

Consult your doctor.

Your body doesnt build up a resistance to anti biotics -bacteria do. And your antibiotic resistant bacteria can then spread to other people.

OP - see a doctor about your mouth sores and swollen tongue - it could be a yeast infection or oral herpes.

Anyway, these days good doctors will not prescribe the same anti-biotic twice within a 12 month period.

But do you consult your doctor before going off them.

It is safe to say that if your anti-biotic is giving you those symptoms you need to go back to your doctor ASAP.

If you sure you reacting to the medication then stop the drug immediately and contact your doctor. Obviously you dont finish the course of antibiotics if you reacting to the drug lol

Happens following usually long course 10 days of Antibiotics eg Penicillin for pneumonia and you're mouth will get thrush and all kinds of sores.
Nothing a Diflucan bomb can't fix literally overnight and sometimes a second one will be required a day later with some decent mouth wash. Your natural flora has had the equivilent of the Seregenti Migration running through you so it need to establish itself again.

:wtf: ... you do know anti-fungals also have a course that needs to be completed ? and that effect for penicillin WRT to the mouth is quite rare. Some patients take penicillin for 30 odd years every day (rhumatic heart disease).
