My debit card has an expiry date and it does not have a chip.

Only Debit Cards with Chips on have expiry dates. Visa Electron cards does not have chips on

So cards created before chip technology was implemented didn't have expiry dates?

Visa card has, Visa Electron doesn't.

MasterCard card has, Maestro card doesn't.

A debit card can be either, a credit card will only be the first.
