I've heard more good things from GWM than from the Foton (or Mahindra) suggested earlier. Also, they come with a 5 year warranty

Agreed, TBH when I saw them launch I was skeptical, but on the 4x4 forum and such I generally only see good comments on their reliability.

GWM Steed 5, or 5E can be bought for between R200k and R250k new.

Yes, but the Duster can come to SA with a Nissan or Renault badge, and badges can make all the difference.

I have seen plenty of farmers switching to Steed 5 for their "plaas bakkies" while they keep their Navara and Raider double cabs as "cars". So the GWM is not a bad choice.
