If you did not receive a mail about your usage the chances of you receiving another are even less now because capacity increasing from the people causing the problem decreasing.

Welcome to a better MWeb experience for you.

Remember they will only do this to you if they have to and with less "Power Users" they have even less reason to.

Yep. I can't wait. Some people seem to think that downloading 23 hours per day is normal usage

Despite not getting a letter, I refuse to stick with an ISP that outright lies to their customers. So enjoy your improved network.

If you didn't receive a letter this time around don't fret. The cool thing about not proving the threshold is that they can lower it again next month and then you could be the recipient of the lucky golden ticket.

How is it outright lying when you agreed to the terms when you signed up ? I quote their AUP

• We reserve the right to manage our network in order to optimize its efficiency for the benefit of all our subscribers, including, without limitation, by way of the following: rate limiting (speed), rejection or removal of spam or otherwise unsolicited bulk e-mail, anti-virus mechanisms, protocol filtering and imposing restrictions on your use. We may take any other action we deem appropriate in order to help ensure the integrity of the network experience for all subscribers, including limiting your data traffic by controlling your network and/or bandwidth usage.

Teh naivety is strong with this one.

Remember they will only do this to you if they have to and with less "Power Users" they have even less reason to [upgrade capacity].
FTFY

It'll boost profits. Thats it. Well thats the optimistic view. If they fill the "saved" capacity with new (low volume) users then the experience will be worse then before because the heavy users you could shape cleanly.

Feel free to stick with mweb though. ;)

Have fun paying more than any other ISP for a service with rolling windows, no international redundancy, terrible support and a crappy network. You guys staying behind are really scoring

So let's get this straight. MWEB lied to their customers to increase revenue. Renege on their promises. Blame their customers. Go on a public rampage against their users. Lower their abuse criteria. Refuse to disclose their abuse criteria and parameters even though they calculated 3% which implies that they are static calculations that can be disclosed.

And you want people to show trust in your brand, and loyalty?!

You ask for loyalty after lies and abuse of your own user base, while trying to portray yourselves as the heroes of the masses? Bugger that schit!

You've restricted your product. You haven't made it better. Nobody is buying this bullschit and the fact that you're here trying to spin this into a positive for your company is pathetic. Take your propaganda elsewhere. You benefited from your lies by securing additional customers. Time to piss off with your propaganda. Take it elsewhere...

Quote all you want, it has changed or modified to suit their needs.
Why must they ensure the integrity of the network? I use only their network (MWEB news server) so it's not like I'm killing it.

And Also, killing my line so I can't even Gmail or Facebook (with downloads STOPPED) is pathetic!
And I'm on a 1MB line! GOOD LORD! Must I change to a 56k? They can't screw me then... oh wait, MWEB will find a way!

For the record I'm not with MWeb, I used to be with them and the service was exceptional.

I moved to Afrihost 2 months ago due to them having a useful admin panel.

The beauty of the 3% argument is that there will always be a 3% to pick on...

Because their marketing promised no throttling. They advertised no throttling. They stated "no throttling". They benefited from such advertising and charged a premium in lieu of this. It is as blatant a lie as one can get.

The fact that they hid a caveat in their Ts and Cs is nothing to be proud of. It further shows their dishonesty and intentions from the outset to not fulfil their promises...

Openweb advertises that you can do as much traffic as you like however they do use internet solutions and in their AUP they state that if you have an internet solutions account you fall under THEIR AUP and they do care. Who knows how high the traffic may be but it exists.

Personally I don't see an issue with what they have done. Yes they may turn around and impose draconian measures on their medium users next, but then they will be eating into a much larger segment so I don't think that's likely. And what business doesn't review their terms and conditions when they pick up problems. They're free to do that just as you the consumer are free to leave if you don't like it. I have an uncapped account, and I stick to weekends and the occasional evening for my downloads and have more content than I know what to do with. I have no issue with them cutting off those who download just for the sake of downloading.

Let's see how you feel when the tables turn and you get that letter in your email.

Huh? Openweb aren't the ones lying to their customers. When they do, I'll happily bitch about them too. You're trying you draw comparisons where there are none. And you're doing so quite desperately...

What a retarded thread.
So everything was fine for the last few years now all of a sudden they want to get rid of hundreds if not thousands of loyal PAYING customers?
They are liars and deserve what they get
