paying customers that use more than what they pay for.

There's a reason Openweb Gold is more expensive.

Okay. Then tell us how much are you supposed to get from Mweb for your money?

Diction doesn't match at all... KinsZA's just suffering some misguided self-righteousness, 'tis all.
Thanks

You may be right in you evaluation and since I dont class myself as 100% sane I'll accept the possibility but being assigned an identity that I am not is rather annoying.

No worries. My armchair opinion is that you just saddled up the wrong lofty pony. ;) It's MWeb's how and when which have people huffing and puffing, not the why.

When it comes to how and when that's a completely different opinion as I think they went about it the wrong way.

They should have sent a mail saying just what policy they are breaking and what to do to rectify it eg...

1: Usage
"We have noticed an excessive use of your connection over the past few months due to X Y Z reasons, please rectify this as if we dont see a decline we may have to lower your priority or throttle your connection to keep up quality of service for other"

2: VPN High Usage
"We have noticed that there is a high volume of traffic going over your vpn, please note that as a home user this is in violation of our AUP, please decrease.... etc..."

Just slamming it in your face is the wrong way to do it unless the intent is to anger the people into leaving.

The why is sound the how is incorrect

@KinsZA

If we step back for a second and move "bypassing" aside... do you say that using a VPN for privacy is wrong?

I parse all my traffic through a vpn, because I don't want my browsing habits logged, deep packet inspected or the dns requests even if I just read news24.com.

What I surf is actually has nothing to do with anyone imho.

VPN for privacy in the current times we live in is not wrong at all, privacy is becoming more and more of an issue and the thought of getting one has been crossing my mind more than it used to.

A ISP should be able to determine what your VPN is being used for due to actual times of usage rather than just what the end figures say but this post isnt really about that.

On a privacy note, if you want to take a look at just how extreme the use of cookies has become the mozilla foundation made a plugin called collusion, I installed firefox and the plugin after one of their talks and well you have to see it yourself to see just how much you get linked to.

Gotta love all the Anti-Mwebbers all of a sudden. :D

Got quite a lot of info from some mweb employee because I was CIVIL and didn't have an attitude when I queried this.

Wish South Africans could learn that being a pr!ck from the get go when approaching someone, won't earn you respect or great service. Yes I know, customer is king. But it's NO effort to be civil to the person that's there to serve you. :)

Because we are sick and bloody tired of these companies treating us like idiots.
You dare miss one payment......but they can do as they bloody please?
Go live in the USA and see how things work.
Your attitude is the reason why we get treated like this, its unacceptable

Ask them politely what the usage thresholds were are and then report back to us, please. :)

At least Telkom has a Usage Meter that lets you know when you getting close to the limit and when you will be throttled.

MWEB just throttles you, now thats fukt up. I have to side with the disgruntled MWEB users on this one.
Kinda has the same stench that the Telkom thread had when the throttling started and there wasn't a usage tracker.

Anyone defending such terrible tactics surely is a fanboi or should still be using "capped"

Could you please be pleasant enough to indulge us with these details that the sincere Mweb Employee has given you?

At this stage, all we uncivil Mwebbers have received are this:
- Abusive users (top 3%) will receive e-mails… Uhm, not exactly an acceptable answer.
- They cannot present the consumers with thresholds… Uhm, we have no rights what the AUP entails in detail.

It is not us being uncivil, it is pathetic being unethical, and Mweb is punishing their consumers. False prior advertising galore with a “Free the Web” campaign which now is totally hypocritical. Blatant lies on the public Forum implicating that other ISP’s is also guilty and that no has publish their thresholds, when they indeed have. They are also not willing to provide us with acceptable answers.

So who is exactly being uncivil?

Could you serve us with the answers them, pretty please?

Said it before, MWEB this is a colossal screw up and you guys need to sort this out for your remaining customers.
Unless this is what you want?
The worst part of this is troubleshooting for days when customers have crap speeds and you guys just waste our time, its always a case of try this, we are checking that, try that, try this.
This is unethical as you guys are damaging the service on your side and yet do not tell the customer anything truthful?
