The shorten link I provided is the real link.
Often with IOL links the redirect from the MyBB App does not seem to work.
On topic though:
The reasons are bull****. In Australia there have been roads where they removed the speed limit and seen accidents drop.
It's about education. if people want to drive like idiots they will.

That, and you're possibly trying to track the amounts of clicks from MyBB to the article.
Especially since that Bitly link was created by the "iolclient" account on Bitly.![]()
Is it because of Volvo? I'm guessing it's Volvo.

Is fiestaST getting into motor journalism now? That would explain a few things.
I blame Volvo too, I bet thats why they rather ride bicycles.

Also...no taxis, potholes and unlicensed drivers in deathtraps.I think what also makes a huge difference is that Sweden is a 1/3rd of the size of somewhere like South Africa and I would bet the daily travel distance of most people is <20km...if they even use cars at all on a daily basis.
Our public transport...or lack there of directly influences the number of people on our roads and that also plays a massive factor in the statistics.
More people on less road equals high likelihood of collision.

In Norway I paid R40,000 to do my drivers license.
It included:
* 10hrs normal driving
* Night driving
* Long distance driving
* Skid pad training
* 1st aid
* Accident scene 1st response (It's illegal to drive past an accident without stopping to offer help)
* Risk training
If I break any laws in my first year I get double points. If I get 12 points in my first year I lose my license and have to reapply.
We drive 50 in towns, 30 in pedestrian areas, and 80 on the open road. Our cars also get inspected for roadworthiness every 4 years. Nobody drives if they've even had a single beer.
The roads are narrower and have way more turns and corners than in SA. A lot of roads are single lane and require oncoming traffic to yield and give way and pretty much share the single lane in order to get around. Also, driving on snow and ice for half the year also makes life interesting, so I don't believe road conditions are the attributing factor.
Paint it any picture you like, it makes a difference.
