The following factors come into play, first of all, there are 6x as many Australian WOW players than South African players and Blizzard is still contemplating settng up a realm in AUZ! Secondly, the local cost of bandwidth is far too high for a local WOW realm. Lets say an average player plays about an average of an hour a night, roughly 500mb of data a month, and there are 1000 local players = 500Gb of server realm traffic per month @ IS rates (10c per MB), this will cost Blizzard R 50 000 per month just on bandwidth. 8) This is just server traffic, Blizzard still needs hire local support staff and purchase server hardware.

I also read something about blizzard going all out on some other game and setting up local servers. (This was due to all the saffers that said they would buy the game and subscribe during market research) And then something like 18 people subscribed. So blizzard got pretty badly burnt

Yeah I know you're right. There's no way you can play WOW for just an hour. So in fact its far worse.
