Why you shouldn’t buy a new smartphone before November 2018 in South Africa

Birthday gift, early Christmas present, graduation bounty, biennial contract upgrade, or great poker win at that underground casino behind your gym – whatever the reason, the end of the year sees many people receiving a new smartphone.

If you are in line to get a new smartphone, however, you will want to hang on for a few more weeks.

Yeah.. Launches don't equate to products on the shelves the same day (at least not in this country), and the Black Friday or whatever specials in this country are pathetic or not even special at all... so if the device you want is available now and you can afford it then just buy it...

So you don't want people to buy affordable phones now, because the expensive stuff is still coming? ......make sense
Great affordable phones available, right now. +1 @ronz91 and more great ones out there

That is.

Don't wait if you like one of these:

1. R399 Vodacom Smart Kicka 4 (Android 8 Go) in a nice package.
2. R999 Huawei Y3 2018 or Nokia 1 in various shops
3. Huawei Y6, Nokia 3.1, etc. , selection becomes more difficult.
4. More expensive /I don't know/

also Pocophone and G7 One
Still no price on that G7 One.
Knowing LG, they'll cut features on the phone here and sell for the same price. They did that on the K10 2017, G5, Stylus 3 that I know of.

The Pixel phone could be an option if you're willing to be stuck with shipping fees if imported and it conks out. The Mate 20 sounds interesting but I'd rather have a Note 9. That Apple gadget? Not an option for me. I'd rather waste my money on other things.
That said, if you're in the market for an entry level or mid tier device because that's all you can afford, would hanging on for one of those three make any sense? Yeah...

I hope not, at the moment Nokia is the only widely available stock option. More flagship Android One devices plz OEMs

The expensive devices that are coming are not going to be affected by Black Friday. If one wants to buy a device cash, then with the Rand situation, it might be quiet to buy now. The Poco F1 is currently available for R7999 bringing SD845 to more people on a slightly lower quality package.
