We need to establish a network between two offices. The office buildings is about 2km apart with trees and buildings in the line of site.

Can anybody recommend someone to consult and install solution on site. It is in Secunda Mpumalanga.

No LOS = no connectivity.

Look at other alternatives.

Why not dig a trench and put in some fiber?

How bad is the obstruction to the LOS? Microwave could be an alternative

I understand that no los makes it more difficult, but also read that some "wifi" frequencies can penetrate through trees and buildings. Or is it impossible. Anycompanies out there that can come out and make an assesment?

Talk to amobia.co.za as far as i know they dont cover your area at all but the do private company solutions also and could advice further as to what you guys want to do.

I'm part of the ptawug and can tell you that what you want is very much achievable i dont think the LOS is much of an issue, it will be with conventional long range wifi equipemnt but using more expensive hardware and the NV2 protocol will allow for a good solution.

As i said get hold of them or search the forum/google for isp/wifi internet providers as most of them do pivate solutions :)

Good Luck :D

True but most of those frequencies (similar to the 900mhz band cell c use for data) are closed and licensed for use by ICASA, most if not all wisp's use open frequencies where simple licensing is required this being 5GHz but this piece of spectrum is also common for a lot of noise in urban settlements and interference caused by other service providers
