Hey,

Got fibre at home with a decent router - covers 99% of a double storey house , but step outside and its all gone.

Is there one device that i can use that will cover whole house and garden ? Stand approx 1000m2 and house 600m2 ( basically a square 20x20 ).

I want one device cause i have cameras and wifi switches linked and its just too complicated with repeaters .... at least from my experience

Thanks

Every house is different, of course.

It's more expensive, I know, but I don't think you can do better than Ubiquiti UniFi.

I have this at home, and it works flawlessly. If one isn't enough, you can seamlessly add more devices to extend coverage.

Hi gimpex,

Have you had a look yet at our DrayTek WiFi access point (AP) range?

The two best options from the range for your requirements would be:

The Vigor AP910C (wall/ceiling-mountable, single gigabit Ethernet port, looks like a smoke detector)
or the Vigor AP902 (wall mountable, 4 port gigabit switch embedded)

Both APs are 802.11ac capable with simultaneous dual-band radios, and may be powered using mains or PoE.

While the following may not apply to your current setup, these APs are also centrally manageable from within the DrayTek routers' web interface, have built-in RADIUS servers and support for AP-assisted/fast WiFi roaming.

Just shout if you would like any more info, or to be put in touch with a DrayTek reseller in your area.
Have a lekker Sunday.

How vulnerable would such a devices transmissions be to hacking?

Definitely unify I love the stuff. I still want to try Draytek, but it's very expensive I'm finding it hard to buy it for testing and having used ubiquity I just go for what I know works.

remember, if you have some device with a massive output, it does not mean all the devices are equally strong to communicate back.

better to have more than one in or around a large house.

Recently changed to UniFi. 1 x LR and 1 x Pro. Brilliant signal upstairs, downstairs and outside. Worth every cent.

Ubiquiti Unifi.

When one isn't enough you simply add more seamlessly.

These things sound like a pain to install. Are they?
Nope. Very simple to install. Install controller software. Plug in access points. Adapt access points. Win.

Back in the day it was more difficult, but now it is very easy to set up and install.

So I should be fine at the lapa area using just an ap ac lite inside the house? The lapa area is about 30m from where the unit will be installed
