European prices et al out:

£179
Eur249

Launch December 7th.
The rest is the same as the US, ie Wii Sport included.

So we're looking at ~R2500 for the console here, which is a bit rough, compared to say, the 360 core at R2700.

I was always expecting to pay, and prepared to pay about 2.5k. The core X360 is kinda sucky so I'd never consider it over the Wii.

I think it's very much a case of High spec Corolla versus low spec Merc.

We know how that one pans out . . .

The Merc breaks down, and the Corolla gets hijacked?

So true . . .

just a bummer that it'll take so long to get here. I've had my "Console fund" burning a hole in my pocket for months!

I can understand the technical issues with NTSC vs PAL. I can even kinda get that localization takes some time, and they don't want to cannabalise the cost of localizing stuff.

But the DS and PSP have proven that it makes little difference, so why?

If I want to import semi-porn anime mecha games why shouldn't I? ;)

at least the PAL Wii version will have Progressive Scan and widescreen support in all the games this time, thats good enough for me to warrant a purchase.

I'm gonna buy one. It looks great and sometimes you don't need excellent graphics to warrant a good gaming experience. Something different is what the Wii offers and I'm def keen on it.

If the majority of people prefer cheaper games over localized versions then there is no reason to even have a localized version. If only a minority import their own games to save money then there is no reason to have a region lock.

Would anyone buying a recent console not have a TV that can handle PAL and NTSC?

I wait until all this locking childishness has been defeated before I put my money down.
