Hi,

I applied for my ADSL in the beginning of this year (January 2007) and after maybe dates set by Telkom, my Installation has been pushed to January 2008.

I dont understand Telkom, excuses from no ports at the exchange, to cabling unavailable to no ports at the DSLAM. There IS a cable (my neighbour has ADSL), there are ports at the exchange (i installed ADSL at a house in my area in October).
A fibre cable of 10 Gbps can support 25 000 384kbps lines. I doubt there are 25 000 using my DSLAM.

So what now? What can i do to get Telkom off their a$$ to do something? I want to jump off a building with the frustration Telkom is causing me.

I'm trying everything to get Telkom to do something. I find it impossible for Telkom to take a year to install a DSLAM port.

I tried contacting ICASA, and been waiting for 2 weeks now for a reply. What else can i do? I'm not in a 3G or iBirst area!

Please help this poor ADSL-less soul :(

yup, upgrade your neigbour's line to 4mbs and split it wireless or via rj45. Use seperate PPOE connections to keep your ISP accounts apart.

Complain to ICASA - its worth a long shot. I waited 12 weeks and wrote a letter to them, a few days later Telkom phoned to say there were installing. Dont know if its related or just pure luck, but it will take you 5 minutes and its worth a shot.

I was thinking of asking my neighbour if i could use his ADSL line....

A Telkom tech guy was at my blue and green box today, so i went up to him to ask why i cant get ADSL. He told me the cable was at my box, they just needed to install a DSLAM box onto of the box...

I dont believe that i can take someone 12 months to install and connect a small DSLAM box.

I called 10219, and they contacted the Telkom technical office here in Durbanville, and those guys promised me that they install one before the 17th January 2008. Mmmm a Telkom promise

The technical department said the reason they taking so long is that it's very expensive to install. What type of reason is that? I'm sure Telkom has enough money to buy and install a DSLAM. So far i know that 15 people are waiting to receive ADSL in my area.

I'm going to stop at ICASA here in Cape Town next week to ask the ICASA guy if he received my complaint and if anything is happening about it.

dude if your close to your next door just ask them to upgrade to 4 meg run a lane cable if you need ltency and use pppoe to connect with your own account :)

then also du super controller and load on your pc and his and set him to 200 and you to 200kbs :)

sorted out, i think if you offer to pay for the line he'll accept :)
