will i lose my level 20 ranger

i am in serious need of reformating my hd. i was wondering that if i do will i lose everything i have done in factions or is everything saved on their server?

binky my guess is that ur character is connected to ur account so formatting wont delete the char. But u should actually backup ur .dat file because it contains all the game updates

I formatted and my HD and had to update the whole game form scratch but still had my characters ( so i say its safe to format. you're just gonna update from start unless you backup that stuff that Soldier said... but i dunno i just updated didn't bother me much)

you wont lose your chars, but like DigitalSoldier said. backup your GW.Dat file found in "c:\Program Files\Guildwars". It will save you from updating the whole game again. All you need to do is install the game client. When it starts updating, cancel the update and then just copy the backed up GW.Dat file back into the guildwars folder
