Hello everyone

I bought a ZTE phone overseas and found that it couldn't connect to our 3G networks (only Edge). I don't want to make that mistake again.

In the USA there's an awesome Android phone, that's cheap and highly rated known as "Blu". Could the Mybroadband experts tell me whether it will pick up 3G and 4G on our networks?:

http://www.amazon.com/BLU-Life-One-...F8&qid=1463046664&sr=1-1&keywords=blu+phone+x

In its description is says:
"4G LTE, (2/4/7/12/17), 4G HSPA+ (850/1700/1900/2100). GSM Quad band: US compatibility Nationwide on all GSM Networks including AT&T, T-Mobile, Cricket, MetroPCS, Straight Talk, Pure Talk USA, and others"

thanks!!

3G bands HSDPA 850 / 1700(AWS) / 1900 / 2100
4G bands LTE band 2(1900), 4(1700/2100), 7(2600), 12(700), 17(700)

3G should work OK on 2100 for Vodacom. 4G will not work.

Thanks for the help Ockie. Is all Vodacom 3G on the 2100 frequency? Or does this vary depending on location or tower configuration?

thanks
Dave

Most of 3G towers run on 2100, but I think there are some running on 900 also....but as per the frequency bands listed, 900 3G is not supported by this phone. 4G wont work at all.

question for you ockie, I have this phone in SA

Innjoo fire,
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/777931-InnJoo-Fire-16GB-3G-Smartphone-Review/page3

and as a second sim is an FNB one, but I never see 3g displayed under signal, its always E or G displayed.
sometimes it shows vodacom as well.

my main sim card is an MTN and that shows 3g properly,

whats going on here,

Most dual sim phones will have dual standby, but only one sim at a time can be used for data. So on my Meizu M2 Note, I have two Vodacom sims. The one is my normal voice number that I have had for years on, and is now on prepaid. The second Vodacom sim is a new 2gig Vodacom contract sim...and that sim is assigned as my data sim in the phone, so that sim always has 4G, but my voice sim is only GSM (only calls and SMS, no data). I suspect your dual sim phone would be similar.

From what I understand, majority of their 3G services runs on 900mhz, but there are some 2100mhz towers to add capacity. I could be wrong, but that is from what I have read.

Hi eg2505
Thanks for the tip on the Innjoo Fire - I decided to buy it thanks to you and I'm super happy with it! Just R1299 on Takealot and I got the second last one! I'm getting good 3G and HPSA on CellC and Vodacom. Now going to go buy 200Gb of data from CellC for R999 for a year! Nice!
