No prob for me.How do you all feel about the controversy on this update?
Specifically, the start menu advertising and the inability to turn off Cortana?

This is no different from any other software update of any device.
It just proves again that you can never please everyone, as everyone expects it to come out of the box customized for their own individual setup.
For this reason you always see 'How to roll back' articles as soon as a new software update is released.
How is it no different? No different from Ubuntu? Or windows 7? Or do you mean mobile devices?
I'm not trolling, I'm trying to understand. This *seems* like a serious invasion of my privacy, and just because "I have nothing to hide" it does not mean I want everything I do documented or give up my right to privacy. nor does it mean I should let MS advertise to me at every given oppertunity.
You can remove promoted items from the Start menu, or not?
Right now I can but after the update its compulsory from what I've read.
Edit: Ok I just checked, the advertising can be disabled.
Some promoted apps are pre-installed, but Microsoft notes that they can be fully uninstalled and any promoted items removed from the Start menu.
I don't remember you complaining about it. You only post positive stories (even there are not entirely true).I'm flabbergasted. For the first time ever in the history of Windows, the new version remembered my multi-monitor setup and correctly arranged the screens as before.

Microsoft do not longer post checksums on Web site.Busy downloading the ISO directly now.
Go to the media creation tool page on your phone. You will be told that your platform doesn't support the tool and you can then select you edition. Download links to 32 and 64 bit will be created, valid for 24 hours. Copy link and email to yourself and then download the ISO directly on your pc. It shows that it is downloading version 1607.
Edited: guess in principle it will work like this on linux and mac as well..?
Its not addressing the privacy issue totally, but I'm using Classic Shell.
My start menu looks like this :
