Windows 10 Creators Update - what a disaster!

I saw a R24K HP system crash today - after it auto updated to this new Windows 10 Creators Update

Had to do a Windows rollback using Win 10 recovery DVD to resolve the issue.

So for now its fixed - but how the heck is one going to prevent Win 10 from trying to auto upgrade the Windows version to this buggy update again?

So anyway - just a warning to all of you - this update may crash your perfectly working HP laptop or desktop. Be warned. It just hangs the whole system and locks you out of Win 10 functions.

I had endless mouse issues after Creators update. There are a plethora of bugs in this update. If you aren't experiencing any issues you are pretty lucky

Must say I've had no issues with the creators update at all. That is on 6 of my personal systems and 20 odd at work.

Same here, no issues on my Dell laptop either, I actually like the update a lot, no issues to speak of. I think the issues are with people getting the update via Windows Update, I always just download the ISO and update from it, never have issues.

I have also had a positive experience, ‘OEM’ laptops, laptops, desktops, no issues. There were some compatibility issues with third-party installations, but that was resolved with updates. No critical downtime. Going by migration terms (upgrading to Creator), it was an ease.

Correct - the update that was pushed down early. Installing fresh has presented me with no problems either

The upgrade installed itself fine on two other systems - but took down a high end 17 laptop...rendered it totally useless, unless you roll back the Win 10 version.

Now if the Windows upgrade was clever enough to establish it wont work on that system - it should never have tried the upgrade...clearly MSoft has realized their mistake with this.

And this from Microsoft is also not a permanent fix to auto updates in Win 10.

Who in this day and age Let PC's update automatically?

Install WSUS point to it and approve what you want esp if you in IT, Hell with a simple reg edit you can even force Home editions to only uses WSUS. Oh and this will also block updates as well. You can even tell it not to push 1 update to 1 PC but approve the rest.

For Home and Home Single, just add contents below into a Update.reg file created with notepad and run it (Replace 127.0.0.1 with your local WSUS server.)

Now you can approve the updates to your hearts content. Even better if you have more than on PC you don't have to download the updates more than once.

View your reliability history to have a look at what's causing the issue(s).

Very much doubt its related to Win10 directly, more that Win10 has brought it out and its caused by something else.

Run Win10 on over 5 personal machines and no issues, if anything they're faster and more stable.

In the case of the machine in the OT, the whole task bar was unusable, you could not access anything from the desktop and you could not open anything in Windows start menu, such as to get to the control panel to attempt an uninstall of the latest updates manually...

So it forced one to go the recovery disc route...and roll back. All stable after the windows 10 version roll back to the previous version of Win 10.

Did a full hardware test - no faulty hardware - the system is SSD equipped.

My Dell laptop now wont come out of monitor power save mode for both the primary and secondary monitor
Screen saver comes on...no problem. Move the mouse of hit the keyboard and screes come back on.
But if power saving setting turns the screen off...then I cannot get the screens to come back on without unplugging the external monitor.
For now, I've set it to never turn the screens off...screen saver only.
