Windows 10 in SA on the same day as the US

It will take a lot for this to trump Windows 7, lets see..

The free upgrade will sway a lot of customers + it really rejuvenates an older computer & make it feels fast again.

I reckon Windows 10 will be Microsoft's finest hour. :)

I release's finest hour is usually the week after the actual release when the fixes are released :)

lol, its says quite a lot that it makes the news that SA will be included in a global launch.

SEPTEMBER!!!! seriously now, I thought it was a couple of weeks away!

Well, the original release date for Windows 7 was 22 September 2009, but it got released on 22 July 2009.

So there is hope....otherwise just join us with the Insider Program and experience Windows 10 Pro right now. ;)

Kingrob, I hope so.
I think many will stick with 7 until 10 is proven itself.

I am convinced it will, cos I've been running it on a dual-core Celeron now for a while and it's very impressive.

The disjointed Start Screen/Classic Desktop Windows 8/8.1 OS confusion is gone, it's incredibly responsive on very basic hardware, looks absolutely beautiful and supports all the latest and greatest hardware out of the box - what's not to like? :)

I've already forgotten about Windows 8.1, wiped it from all my computers. It's gone and erased from my memory.

Interesting, are you running the Technical Preview?

Yup.

I bought one of those Intel NUC Celerons to utilize it as a HTPC, then proceeded to install Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Ubuntu 14.10 and Windows 10 on it, to see which OS would be best for my little box.

Windows 7 was bad, Aero doesn't play nice with low-end graphics, and Ubuntu was hit and miss as well. Windows 8.1 was extremely impressive and now Windows 10 just made it even better.

Think that's what I should do on my brother's PC. Was just about to upgrade him from 8.1 to 7 Pro.

As I understand it, you will receive Windows 10 via Windows update.
How will this handle your currently installed applications and settings?

I am looking forward to try it out. I never got to sink my teeth into Windows 8.1 so I was stuck on Windows 7.

that doesn't sound too bad.
I will have to test it soon in a VM.

Windows 7 users will download it as an ISO or USB install and run it as an upgrade install. Windows 8/8.1 users will get it through the Windows Store. Windows 10 TP users will just be auto-upgraded to the RTM build as soon as its available for purchase.

What about consumer preview customers, will they also get an upgrade for free?

Also when will the consumer preview actually be available to download,I see it was announced, but no date given in the articles I read?
