Windows 10 removed my Network adapter and now I can't get it back

So the other day I had internet problems, so ran the Windows Troubleshooter and it said that it needs to do a Network Reset. Did it and it ended up removing my network adapter. I have been unable to bring it back since.

Its not showing up on the device manager, I can't install manually through Device manager nor can I install it through a downloaded exe as it says it can't detect the adapter.

Now it did come back briefly on Tuesday but then disappeared again yesterday.

Run as many possible fixes as I could think.

Anyone got any ideas as to how I could fix this?

If it's not showing under control panel but it is listed under device manager, try typing "netsh winsock reset" into an administrative command prompt without quotations and reboot.

Worked for me a while ago when mine went on the blink

Unplug mains, wait a minute and try again.
I think your network adapter just packed up and do not report to the system anymore. After reset is gone - no ID. However I don't trust Windows 10 in this area, so boot from live CD and see whether is recognised (at least will show unknown device). If it is embedded on the motherboard, BIOS setup might tell you something as well.

Thanks for the advice.

Switched my PC on when I got home from work and it had discovered it again. I don't think I will switch it off from now on :)

It is Windows 10 and will restart automatically for you ;-)
