Windows 11 system requirements - Bad news for old PCs

Does that include my Sabertooth Z77 from 2013? I'd love to upgrade this pc but eish, money is tight post hard lockdown and in the covid era... and this PC runs beautifully anyway, completely and adequately fulfilling my needs... doubt Windows 11 would be sufficient enough of an incentive to upgrade... I'm even more certain a work around will be found in due course... anyway I'm on the beta program so let's see what happens next week...
Z77 does not have Intel PTT thus no fTPM. Check if it has a physical TPM connector, which means you'd have to buy a TPM and connect it.

TPM will be a big requirement for most but at least it's down to TPM1.2 and most new Ryzen products have fTMP which works.

I think people are forgetting the large support issues there was from 8 ->8.1 or even the giant upgrade from 7 to 10. It took ages before it was widely adopted at all and THANK THE POPE we are done with service packs, remember that crap?

Some of those folks on Twitter sure loved the opportunity to show off their specs.
:laugh::laugh:
Exactly this.
The phokken pissing and moaning is off the charts.
Take this dumbass for instance (listing your GPU specs too ... lol! #HumbleBrag):

How about you just wait until the thing actually gets released before you moan.

Yeah, I mean, I had the incompatibility thing with my AMD Ryzen 5 5900x w/ 64GB RAM, #RTX 3080, 2x 1TB SSD on Gigabyte B550 Mobo, all with latest drivers installed!

What a waist of resources of the earth, just google electronic waiste dumps.

Change for the sake of change: I am sick of it.

"New".....Buy....Reboot.....Update....Upgrade.....Replace(Forced by Digital Change Culture)........"Infinate repeating process".

Not to be that guy, but my phone has better specs than the minimum requirements.

Also, wasn't one of the benefits of Win 11 supposed to be that it used less resources than Win 10?

Edit: sans TPM requirement, obviously.

All Intel motherboards from 2015 should also have an fTPM (Intel PTT).

I agree on this to a large extent.
Smartphones are some of the worst. Been using my OnePlus 5T for years without a single complaint about performance or need to upgrade, now suddenly the thing seems memory-constrained and I'm using it exactly the way I did for years.

Then there's PC's, been running a 3rd gen i7 for years and still using it to run even Steam VR games without a single issue (seriously, even title like Project Cars 2 in VR runs great even though it shouldn't based on opinions), yet every tech reviewer site out there is telling me it's time to upgrade... no... phuck off.

TPM chip requirements, or is that something everything now has?
There is a workaround for this. You need to replace their one installation file with an old version from Windows 10 and then well Bill is your uncle.

I can think of one major complaint I have with Win11 based on what I've seen, assuming it doesn't change.
Apparently, you can't move the Start Menu around anymore if you're signed in with an MS Account.

Let's get one thing straight Microsoft:
Having a start menu on the bottom of your screen when you're using a 16:9 monitor is just retarded!
16:9 has always been a k@k aspect ratio for many if not most productivity apps and using valuable vertical space when you have tons of horizontal space already is retarded.

if only my "cheap" oneplus lasted like your numbered OnePlus,
the word you are looking for is planned obsolescence, ANYTHING can be made to last forever, its designed to fail as that's what they want you to do,
throw away perfectly usable things, to generate profits, and if they discover its "exceeding" its lifespan, fine the manufacturer heavily for breaking the monopoly.

not all computers capable of running the current OS
Well, this is a load of bullshit. My 10 year old PC supposedly can't run this OS, but I am fully capable of running it in a VM on my PC......What does that say? They want to sell the OS to you, now they pretend that you hardware is not capable to not give you free upgrade.
So your PC hardware is too old to run Windows 11 natively, but fine to run in a VM on the same HW?
