Windows 7 runs faster on Macs due to Snow Leopard Glitch

With no help from Apple, Mac Fans have been trying to piece together what could be causing such a kerfuffle. Initially the thought was that it was probably some cheap Chinese component which was failing or overheating.

However when Windows 7 appeared on the scene and users started installing it using Boot Camp, they discovered, much to their horror, that the Microsoft product was driving their iMacs better.

The conclusion can only be that it is a driver problem within Snow Leopard which is not controlling the big iMacs' graphics hardware properly.

More here

Well thats quite hardcore!! Hopefully this can be fixed with an update.

So er... how long does it take Microsoft to release updates for its holes? In its OS? In its Office suite? In its browser?

The whole article is written in a very facetious way and presents a picture as though Apple is the only company with hardware issues and duh-its poor users have to sort these zero day issues all on their own.

BTW most components are made in China these days - look at the XBOX360 for example.

I had nothing but trouble with Slow Leopard [sic] in the beginning.

Apple controls the hardware and the OS - its supposed to be one if the strengths of using a mac - so this shouldnt have been an issue.

I rate the issue should be fixed quite quickly. OS update should do the trick :)

Did you resolve these issues?

I'm still on Leopard for the foreseeable future. :)

Yeah, eventually. Saving or exporting would crash nearly every application - including PS and Aperture - which are my bread and butter applications.

Don't take it the wrong way but why did you upgrade so quickly? Were you hoping for a performance boost or some other reason?

I dont think I rushed into it - I upgraded after the first point fix which is usually enough time for them to have worked the kinks out.

I've got a fairly good backup regime so downgrading would only have meant lost time not data.

Sounds like a driver issue, I'm guessing this is something ATI should fix...

Regarding SL... I've had no problems on my macbook, much faster and I've bumped up the ram by adding a 2GB stick. Really refreshing to use.

Most OS's have problems, they will fix it. Nothing to really get worked up over i reckon.

This article is pure FUD hoping to draw page views with a sensational headline and incomplete facts.

The problem has been covered by the mainstream mac blogs last week already and it seems its restricted to a limited number of users of certain 27" iMacs. They started TWO whole threads on the Apple forums... <shock!> <horror!>.
