It will be the last I run a pirated copy, I found myself in the police station with a couple of Microsof execs. Quite a hefty fine one has to pay if you do get caught going against their license agreements.

<start of satrical reply>
It cannot be traced if you keep you internet connection off, coz then it can't phone home to tell on you.

Even though you have a product you haven't paid for and have no software license to run, it can't be seen as as crime because you weren't the seller. If they catch you somehow, just act stupid and say you didn't know it was pirated, and blame it on the person who sold it to you.

Piracy is fun.

</end of satirical reply>

I'm hoping you're not as stupid as you make out to be, especially with a name like NOOB101.

Funny how we hate the corrupt government gorging themselves on our hard earned cash, but we'll rather pirate software than paying the off price for an operating system that will outlast our hardware.

To answer your question. If you have pirated software running on your PC its a crime, whether you bought it, sold it our downloaded it.

Read about this poor sod who downloaded pirated software and resold it:

Despite your wishes, unfortunately we are judged by our names. The ones we are born with we cannot change, but to voluntarily choose NOOB101 then.... well, you get my drift. I hope.:erm:

Dude you cannot be traced, nor does microsoft track down single users.

They use scare tactics and then unless you are selling pirated windows they might go after you but a single user has no problems. Believe it or not even with piracy microsoft makes billions, they scare a few into buying legit and do not care if other people pirate it as long as they use windows :D.

Scare tactics do work though as can be seen in this thread.

Right now microsoft is watching your every move. They know where you live and in about 5 minutes your house is going to be under the most severe attack known to man :D. I am talking smoke bombs, tear gases, armour piercing bullets.

Noob dont be so sensitive please they are helping you out and for future reference now you know.
In a faceless world you are judged by your nick or reactions to comments.
As you stated you are new.

But I need to agree the minute the software needs a register key or need to pay for it and you dont you break the law and that is baaad mkay.

But yes rather spend the money its cheaper than the previous versions almost and I reckon its worth it.
My Win 7 dails home round about four to five times a week that I know of so yes it will tell on you and send you a big illegal version back and close it for you.

Microsoft has a hefty fine and I think 6 years ago it was something like 30k per license .
Dont know what it is these days.

Else go yo Ubuntu where its for free
