Hi guys,

I would like to compile a document that is verifiable, on the list of issues (security and other) in a Win98 system to convince somebody to switch over to WinXP, or Vista.

What sources on the web could maybe help me?

Also, when is MS going to stop supporting the OS with patches ect.

Thanks a mill

dude you dont need a list

if they are happy with 98 leave them alone, it a fine system with alot of annoying problems

illagel operation being the most annoying

but it works

security for windows 98 is fine no one is using 98 thus nothing bad is done for 98 only xp

neio, you should probably dig around on MSFT for more direct answers, but here's some tangentially related info ..it's elgooG for "unofficial windows98 service pack" (sans the quotes). This should give you another route to follow to (hopefully) home in on the info you want.

Windows 98 is a mission to setup and get drivers for. Illegal operations, blue screens, slow, unstable etc etc...

ITS OLD!!!!!!! That already says a lot! Why even ask?

Windows 2000 wil work on older PCs, but not to old though...;)

End of support for Windows 98 and Windows Me
July 11, 2006 will bring a close to Extended Support for Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows Me as part of the Microsoft Lifecycle Policy. Microsoft will retire public and technical support, including security updates, by this date.

Should not need anymore. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/support/endofsupport.mspx
