Windows 98

Is there any way to conect to Win98. I phoned Iburst and they guided me to install everything. But when I try to conect it give me ER018. So it doesn't allow me to connect. The oke on the phone told me that they are nor supporting Win98 any more.
Sorry if this was alredy here but realy would like to know the answer.

TCPIP must be installed as well as Dial-Up connection services thingy.

I instaled TCP IP and Virtual Com port.
Before that I couldn't even open Iburst conection to type user name and password. After that I manage to open, type user name and password. It tried to verify user name but it said error number 17. People from iburst said that is why they don't support it any more.

Um - I would read the instructions on http://www.raspppoe.com/, they still know how to do a win98 setup.

But - insofar as dial-up goes - you need to upgrade dialup to 1.4, here:
In Win 98 Second and First edition, you had to upgrade the Dial-Up networking.

Dangit - If you are using a USB based IBurst - switch to ethernet based - USB and Win98 is a waste of time.

Funny you should mention those errors...I setup a 98 machine to use Iburst (UTC via PCI card) and it was working hundreds. 3 days ago it just started giving those errors. Wonder if they changed something at IBUrst. Is that even a remote possibility?

Maybe they changed the exchange name as Telkom did to me a while ago. I had to run RASPPOE again to discover the exchanges and to create a new connection for the new exchange

When you run RASPPOE to query existing services, it then creates a connection for the service it found. In Telkom ADSL the service name is typically something like rndf-ip-esr-3. Mine used to be rndf-ip-esr-1. When the Telkom techie came out, it worked because he immediately queried the new name. Also worked when I installed on a new machine, but not on the existing installation. That is when I decided to run RASPPOE again and saw the change. After creating the new dialup connection with RASPPOE everything worked fine. The rndf-ip-esr-3 is encoded in the phone no bit of the connection you have created and I think that is why I called it "exchange"

When you use Rassppoe, simply dont use the ESR located, keep it empty(it will fill in under the phone number)

If the ESR change for whatever reason, it will advertise itself and you can just reconnect to it without changing the physical ESR name.
