What phase is it in? Beta, Release candidate?

And yah how does it differ from 10? i quite like 10 and from what I read about it a while ago when I was looking for a release of it, it said that there were huge changes, like a completley different interface etc.

The one thing that i find rather crappy bout 11 is that you cant chose another album or playlist form the miniplayer, but have to restore it each time and go to the library to do so. :(

No, its was 7 that was the devil, and the rest following are thus the spawn of that one.

You need to have Service Pack 2 for XP installed and it doesn't work on Windows 2003 Server, nor Windows XP 64Bit.
Read here.

Hmmm, iTunes?

Last time I tried that on PC, a year or so back, it "took over", associating itself rather nastily, embedding into windows like a grimy snail.

Same thing with Quicktime.

I use Quicktime Alternative and winamp - see no reason for iTunes, as I don't "buy" into the idea of the whole thing - no iPod, so I ain't a "pod person"

Yeah yeah p00p - I want an iPod, but don't have the bucks right now - perhaps when I get one, then iTunes will be an idea.

Windows media player - heck, it's ok I suppose - overkill for the most part, so many bells and whistles I'll never use - bloat ware.

What I like about Quicktime alternative (or real player alternative) is that they both use the old mediaplayer classic - very lightweight, that does EXACTLY the same thing, except without a gazillion useless add-ons, like themes, or visual plop when music plays - for the love of baked beans, why would I want some kinda of fancy visual effects for my music when I'm sitting at my PC? - in a club, or disco, sure, but at home? - huh?

It's a case of eye-candy over functionality - media player should play media, PERIOD. None of this malarky about auto updates, DRM checking, Themes, Special FX - fsck that!

Erm, I'm ranting ... :D

I ran it for about 5 minutes and then went back to a real media player

What? Tis may be a Windows app, but I think its damn good, it just looks so professionla and well done, mostly.

Real Player sucks, alot compared to this, seriously it does. I only use this for music though, I let media player classic or VLC player open my movies and vids, tey are alot more reliable for movies. Mpclassic *everything* with the real and qt alternative addons.

The thing with media player is that it is made to use the album art alot, even mor eso than mp10, which l;ooks great if you have the album art, it can downlad this for you though so its easy. Once you have album art this looks amazing and really kicks ass, built in lyrics look great too, gives playing a song so much more depth with lyrics and album art.

I have tried EVERY pther player andI stuck to mp10 except for when i was pulled to winamp for a while but mp11 is even better.

Okay i havent tried I-tunes, i'll check it out.

Its okay but no library so its not really an option for music.

you guys really prefer VLC? I found it to be pretty unstable sometimes and it cant play as much stuff as MPClasic. eg it cant play all rm files.
It also has terrible skinning and you cant even get a control panel to pop up when playing files full screen.

VLC does have a playlist which is nice for split movies that you want to play straight after each otehr to watch a whole movie.. not a big prob though.

So why you guys prefer VLC? the latest v.0.85 is out nnow bte.

I like the use of WMP, perhaps because i have used it for a long time. I only use itunes to update the ipod. I just can't seem to find my way easily with it and it duplicates the same album alot. Just too much hassle if you don't really know how it operates.

Winamp for audio, MP for video. The problem I always had with using MP for audio were the lack of global hotkeys, which I use frequently in winamp to change tracks, volume etc while in another window without having to actually maximise winamp and change it, as you would do in MP.

It helps if you have a multimedia keyboard. Then you can use the software you like.
