Hi Guys

I know there is a lot of threads on here about the topic but I would like to ask about this specific situation.

I currently own a Macbook 13" with OS X 10.5

Now I also own a Satelite phone that connects to a computer via usb and you can use it for data transfers.

The problem is there is no drivers for OS X and the company that developed the phone also doesn't plan on introducing any drivers.

What will be the best way to get the phone to work as I know there are a couple of options?

Well you could use Boot Camp? It comes pre-installed on your Mac. Use Spotlight to Search for Boot Camp. If you have a copy of Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 it'll easily guide you through the steps needed to install Windows onto your Mac.

Once you've finished installing Windows, you insert your Mac Install Disk while in Windows, install the drivers and you're ready to go. Very easy.

Had the same problem using my GPS module - I ended up using VirtualBox to install a virtual copy of windows. Worked just fine.

How does it work then do you boot into OS X then start the VM with virtual box and then connect your external device?

Also will it work with Entourage and your browser?

I installed ubuntu in fusion, just to check it out, and it works well. Try installing windows in a vm, should work well.

The software for my Polar heart rate monitor is windows only. I use Parallels to run Windows while using OSX. Works brilliantly!

You would boot into OSX as per normal, start your VM with XP or whatever as the guest OS and use it via XP, you would have to use applications on XP to access the phone. I dont think you can share the device with OSX apps.

You just install it, either with the CD/DVD or an Image of the OS. Yes, Parallels is a different program. I haven't used Parallels 4, but I like VMWare Fusion. People's opinions differ, I guess they're both good.

Sun's Virtualbox is free and does the same thing too - it's quite good as well

Sorry - I guess you edited your post around the same time as I was answering your original question.

At this time it seems that although some people have managed it others havent so I guess its something they're working on.
