You're right. Though 99.9% of the popular apps are there for Windows Phone, there still a gap. Google Play has over 3500 Fart Apps now, while WP trails with a miserable 42. This app shortage is really holding the platform back. ;)

For those who've gotten over installing and uninstalling 5 apps a day, and those who actually just want a slick, modern, highly responsive, easy-to-use, capable, less-hardware-heavy phone platform, WP devices are a breath of fresh air. And Nokia's Lumia phones a welcome respite from SupaPlastics.

WP has already overtaken iPhone in several markets around the world. In the USA it just can't make inroads into a market heavily dominated by Samsung and Apple, not because most people choose Android or iOS (90% don't know or care) but because those two vendors have the network, distribution and retail channels sewn up.

Only geeks care what OS their phones run. They make up 90% of journalists who write about mobile devices, and 80% of people who frequent forums like this, but only 5% of real-world cellphone users, who actually don't much know or care what OS their phones run.

Heck, if a third of Americans don't even know the earth revolves around the sun (as per another thread on MyBB), what do you think they know about the operating system on their mediaplayer/phone thingamabob?

I think Windows phone is on the verge of overtaking iOS locally
Yea WP has outsold iPhones in the last two quarters and will probably surpass the amount of iPhones sometime this year.

After having used Android for 4 years and then giving WP a shot there's just no way I'm going back to Android any time soon.

I disagree. People might not know what OS their phone runs on, but they know exactly what an iPhone is.

For WP to succeed iOS, it needs to overcome the 'cool' factor of the Apple devices. How many celebrities are seen waving iPhones around in selfies?

For WP to succeed Android, it needs to overcome the versatility of the Android phones. Techno enthusiasts will go on and on about their custom ROM's, and the features they can platy with and the techy apps they can isntall.

Just my opinion :)

For business phones, there is a huge gap for WinPhones here in SA.
