I can't understand why anyone would want windows vista right now I would rather wait 6 months to a year before even attempting to install it.

MS only had the 5384 build availible to the public, but like the general said, it should be availible on torrent networks or if you have a capped IS account you can download it fromt the news server.

Have you tried the beta?! I'm using it right now as my main OS. I love it man. It's fantastic.

You've got guts man! :p

I would never use a beta version of an OS as my primary.

@ gee7022, although I wouldn't use it as my primary OS, there are many reasons why people would want it. One of them being just to play with it, to see what it's like before everyone else, and to get used to the new interface. And software developers might use it to test whether their apps are compatible and to make sure they work properly before the final version comes out. And stuff like that... :p

Yeah I have to agree with nGAGEd... I love testing the new OS versions people bring out. I tested the XP alpha and beta and have tested the Vista Alpha and beta. Nice to see how things run, what gets made and how they improve it over time.

I wouldn't say it's "fantastic". But it's pretty good for a BETA. The RC1 we're supposed to get sometime should be a lot better.

funny things is that it was avaliable for DL but there were no installation keys. Anyway we got it as part of our MSDN subs. not that impressed.

Well in case you missed the reasons given, nobody here downloaded it "just because it had a name". Weirdly enough we were interested in the OS, the progress made and all that jazz. Reading is so handy.

Also received the Beta2 one via MSDN... Don't know what build though. Gonna try it on my Home PC that's in need of a format in anyways. P4 3.0, 1gb, 6600GT - wonder how it'll do? What's the specs / performance like of those who've installed Vista?
